Attention those looking to buy a car! List prices have been updated
As millions of citizens looking to buy a car conduct price research, they have been met with an 'October' adjustment to list prices at dealerships. With prices updated for many makes and models, it has become significantly more difficult for citizens who want to own a car. So, how many vehicles under 1 million liras are left on the market right now?
The increase in new car prices continued in October. Prices, which remained stable for about a year, have begun to rise due to changes in exchange rates and increasing costs.
Prices for new vehicles were updated upwards in October as well. So, how much have car prices increased in October? How many car models are there under 1 million liras?
According to the news in Milliyet, prices that had remained stable for about a year began to rise in September:
"One of the areas where prices had remained stable for about a year, and even showed a decline when inflation and exchange rates were included, was the new and used automotive sector. Over time, brands managed to keep prices at certain levels by subsidizing increases as much as possible to maintain the sales momentum they had achieved, despite rising costs and their own profitability capabilities. In the second-hand market, although there were no such arguments, the sector showed success in keeping prices stable. With the change in the exchange rate over the last few months and the decrease in the ability to subsidize costs, the first change in new car prices occurred in September."

WHICH MODELS HAVE THE HIGHEST PRICE INCREASES?
Under the same conditions, we observe that some price increases were reflected on labels in October as well. While the highest price increase occurred in D-segment vehicles with an average of approximately 4%, an increase of 3.80% was recorded in B-segment vehicles, 3.15% in A-segment vehicles, and approximately 2.85% in C-segment vehicles. At this point, we can say that much more limited increases occurred in electric cars and Chinese-origin brands.

WHY WAS THERE AN INCREASE?
In the past, brands were able to subsidize the cost increases they experienced as much as possible with their profitability and other resources. As this ability has largely diminished with the changes in the factors determining costs, the experienced cost increases have begun to be reflected in list prices. Therefore, the primary factor in the price increases reflected on the labels is current costs.

WHAT ARE THE MODELS WITH THE LOWEST LIST PRICES?
"With rising prices, the lower threshold for 2024 model vehicles has reached 1 million TL. There are also options available among existing 2023 model vehicles. The 2023 model Fiat Panda is at the top of the list of the most affordable cars with a price of 855,000 TL. The 2024 Renault Clio at 905,000 TL, 2024 Hyundai i10 at 955,000 TL, Hyundai i20 at 979,000 TL, Citroen C3 at 988,000 TL, and the Fiat Egea with a price of approximately 1 million TL stand out as the most affordable vehicles offered for sale in our country."
