New era in fuel sales: UTTS begins on June 2

Fuel sales at gas stations via the National Vehicle Identification System (UTTS) will begin on June 2.

Taxpayers operating gas stations are required to complete the necessary registration and application procedures by June 2, install vehicle identification reader devices and nozzle communication modules at their stations, connect these devices to new-generation fuel pump cash registers, and begin actual fuel sales via the UTTS.

EMPHASIS ON LOSS OF RIGHTS

Documents not issued within the scope of the UTTS for vehicles required to have a Vehicle Identification Unit (TTB) will be considered as not issued under tax laws. To prevent any loss of rights regarding tax practices, vehicle owners must complete the necessary application and registration procedures by June 2 for vehicles acquired through leasing or included in the business and used for work, and must have the TTB installed by June 30.

On the other hand, vehicles not covered by the law that use a vehicle identification system must have a TTB installed by July 1, and for tanks in vehicles running on a fuel type other than gasoline or diesel, the TTB must be installed by December 31.

Petroleum Products Employers' Union Chairman İmran Okumuş also warned dealers regarding the new regulation on off-site sales, stating, "The regulation that restricts off-site sales and came into effect on January 1 also closely concerns our citizens. A vast majority of vehicles that previously used bulk fuel are now required to purchase fuel from stations. Otherwise, they will not be able to use the costs of the fuel they purchase as expenses. It is important for my colleagues to inform their customers, who are the end consumers, so that our citizens do not experience any grievances."
