New era in traffic: Heavy penalties for violations are coming
New regulations prepared to increase traffic safety include significant changes such as increased fines and mandatory testing for drivers over the age of 65.
According to the new draft regulations, monetary fines for drivers who violate traffic rules will be increased significantly. Stricter penalties are planned for violations such as running red lights, exceeding speed limits, and driving under the influence of alcohol.
PENALTY PERIODS TO BE EXTENDED
Furthermore, extending the suspension periods for drivers whose licenses have been confiscated is also on the agenda. These measures are being taken to ensure that drivers are more cautious.
MANDATORY TESTING FOR ELDERLY DRIVERS
The mandatory testing requirement for elderly drivers is one of the most notable articles in the draft. Drivers aged 65 and over will be subject to physical and psychological tests every year, and those who fail these tests may be permanently banned from traffic.

DRAFT TO BE SUBMITTED TO THE TBMM
The draft is expected to be submitted to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). The regulations aim to increase traffic safety and prevent accidents. In particular, it is aimed at reducing the risks that may be caused by the loss of reflexes and attention that comes with age.
