Total number of vehicles registered in traffic nears 28 million
In August, 235 thousand 317 vehicles were registered, while 2 thousand 724 vehicles were deregistered. Thus, the total number of vehicles in traffic increased by 232 thousand 593. On the other hand, gray was the most preferred color for cars registered between January and August, at 34.5 percent.
The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has announced the motor land vehicle statistics for August.
Accordingly, the number of vehicles registered in traffic in August increased by 110.6 percent compared to the same month last year, reaching 235 thousand 317. In the same period, the number of deregistered vehicles was calculated as 2 thousand 724, a decrease of 15.5 percent. Thus, the total number of vehicles in traffic increased by 232 thousand 593 in August.
46.5 PERCENT ARE MOTORCYCLES
In August, motorcycles accounted for 46.5 percent of the vehicles registered, followed by cars at 38.1 percent, small trucks at 10.2 percent, tractors at 2.9 percent, trucks at 1.5 percent, minibuses at 0.5 percent, buses at 0.2 percent, and special-purpose vehicles at 0.1 percent.
Compared to the previous month, the number of vehicles registered in August increased by 54.9 percent for minibuses, 41.6 percent for buses, 10.7 percent for small trucks, 9.1 percent for special-purpose vehicles, and 7.8 percent for motorcycles, while it decreased by 14.7 percent for tractors, 7.8 percent for trucks, and 6.5 percent for cars.
Compared to the same month last year, the number of vehicles registered in August increased by 188.8 percent for minibuses, 165.9 percent for motorcycles, 93 percent for small trucks, 86.2 percent for cars, 32.7 percent for buses, and 30.6 percent for tractors, while it declined by 7.2 percent for trucks and 0.9 percent for special-purpose vehicles.

NUMBER OF VEHICLES ROSE TO 27 MILLION 987 THOUSAND 472
As of the end of August, the total number of vehicles registered in traffic increased by 7.52 percent on an annual basis to 27 million 987 thousand 472. Of these vehicles, 53.2 percent were cars, 17 percent were motorcycles, 15.8 percent were small trucks, 7.7 percent were tractors, 3.4 percent were trucks, 1.8 percent were minibuses, 0.8 percent were buses, and 0.3 percent were special-purpose vehicles.
In August, 893 thousand 913 vehicles were transferred. Of these vehicles, 61.7 percent were cars, 16.1 percent were motorcycles, 14.9 percent were small trucks, 2.9 percent were tractors, 1.9 percent were trucks, 1.8 percent were minibuses, 0.5 percent were buses, and 0.2 percent were special-purpose vehicles.
TOP THREE BRANDS ARE FIAT, RENAULT, AND VOLKSWAGEN
In August, 89 thousand 694 cars were registered. The top 3 brands for these cars were Fiat with 12.1 percent, Renault with 8.9 percent, and Volkswagen with 7.2 percent.
In the January-August period, 1 million 525 thousand 213 vehicles were registered. During this period, compared to the same period last year, the number of vehicles registered increased by 89.5 percent to 1 million 525 thousand 213, while the number of deregistered vehicles decreased by 18.2 percent to 20 thousand 33. Thus, there was an increase of 1 million 505 thousand 180 in the total number of vehicles in traffic during the January-August period.
MOST PREFERRED COLOR IS GRAY
Of the 620 thousand 472 cars registered in the January-August period, 67 percent were gasoline-powered, 18.5 percent were diesel, 8.8 percent were hybrid, 4.3 percent were electric, and 1.4 percent were LPG-powered vehicles.
As of the end of August, it was observed that 36.1 percent of the 14 million 892 thousand 825 cars registered in traffic were diesel, 33.9 percent were LPG-powered, 28.1 percent were gasoline-powered, 1.3 percent were hybrid, and 0.3 percent were electric.
In the January-August period, it was determined that 34.8 percent of the cars registered had an engine cylinder volume of 1300cc and below, 23.9 percent had 1401-1500cc, 19.8 percent had 1301-1400cc, 10.3 percent had 1501-1600cc, 6.1 percent had 1601-2000cc, and 0.7 percent had 2001cc and above.
In this period, the top 3 most preferred colors for cars registered were gray with 34.5 percent, white with 28.4 percent, and blue with 12.3 percent.
