Behind the scenes: Özgür Özel to announce his candidacy tomorrow

CHP Parliamentary Group Chairman Özgür Özel is expected to announce his position paper at the party headquarters tomorrow and simultaneously declare his candidacy for the CHP chairmanship. Özel will subsequently attend provincial congresses.

According to a report by Hüseyin Şimşek from BirGün, Özel will first summarize the current situation within the party during his position paper announcement at the CHP Headquarters tomorrow. The statement will also address the incorrect practices implemented in the CHP just before the election, the steps that were not taken after the election, and flawed policies, while emphasizing that change must be permanent. It was also learned that Özel will emphasize that the party failed to achieve the desired result in the election due to wrong policies and that it must act "more courageously."

FIRST STOP IZMIR 

Following his candidacy announcement, Özel will head to İzmir to attend the İzmir Provincial Congress to be held over the weekend. It was reported that Özel intends to attend all provincial congresses he deems significant after this congress.

WHO FROM THE CHP IS SUPPORTING ÖZEL?

Özel, who shared the date of the announcement where he will declare his candidacy on his personal social media account, received support from fellow members of parliament. Former Deputy Chairman and Istanbul MP Fethi Açıkel posted, "We are republicans, we are populists, we are party members. May it be auspicious for our country and our party, Chairman Özgür Özel. We will win together."

CHP Adana MP Burhanettin Bulut also shared a photo of himself, Özel, and Ankara MPs Murat Emir and Umut Akdoğan at the Turkish Grand National Assembly with the caption, "To the beautiful days ahead."
