CHP municipalities take action following the 'newborn gang' scandal: They plan to purchase hospitals!
Following the 'Newborn Gang' scandal and the Ministry of Health's obstruction of mammography and HIV testing services, it has been claimed that CHP-run municipalities plan to purchase hospitals.
While the “newborn gang” scandal has caused public outrage in Turkey, the healthcare system has also come under scrutiny.
According to a report by Mustafa Bildircin from BirGün; meetings will be held throughout November on various topics in the field of health. In this context, meetings will be organized on subjects such as the military health system, preventive health systems, health in local governments, one health, and pharmacy.
The CHP will demand the reopening of military hospitals that were closed following the July 15 coup attempt.
The work to be carried out in the health sector in November and December will also be utilized while drafting the party program. The outcomes of the “Health Services Workshop” held on September 30 will also serve as a guide for the party program.
CHP MUNICIPALITIES TO PURCHASE HOSPITALS
It has emerged that the government, which has been trying to obstruct the practices of CHP-run municipalities within the scope of the “social municipalism” approach through various methods, primarily by citing SGK (Social Security Institution) debts, is also attempting to block preventive health services provided by municipalities. It was reported that health screenings by municipalities, such as mammography, HIV tests, and syphilis tests, were blocked by the Ministry of Health on the grounds that “you must perform these under a health center.” It was noted that licenses were not granted to municipalities that opened health centers due to various excuses by the Ministry of Health. In response, it was stated that CHP-run municipalities are planning to purchase hospitals to overcome the government's obstruction.
PREVENTIVE HEALTH SERVICES
Stating that there are major deficiencies in primary healthcare services carried out by the Ministry of Health, especially in metropolitan areas, CHP officials said, “Municipalities have many practices in the field of health. We will carry out work to spread these exemplary practices to all our municipalities as far as resources allow. Despite all the obstructions by the Ministry of Health, we will continue to provide preventive health services.”
