Hürriyet columnist Noyan Doğan has announced his expectations for the minimum wage hike awaited by millions of citizens. In his article, where he stated he expects a raise between 50 and 60 percent, Noyan shared 3 scenarios.
Hürriyet columnist Noyan Doğan stated that he expects a raise between 50 and 60 percent for the minimum wage for 2024. Noyan also shared 3 scenarios.
Doğan used the following expressions in his article today:
"When we take into account this year's inflation, inflation forecasts for the coming year, the raises made to the minimum wage in an inflationary environment over the last two years, and the fact that there will be only one increase in the new year, I expect a raise between 50 and 60 percent, with 55 percent being the more likely scenario in my opinion. So, what do these increases mean?
If a 50 percent raise is applied to the minimum wage, it will rise to 20,121 liras gross and 17,104 liras net. The cost to the employer will be approximately 23,641 liras.
If a 55 percent increase is made to the minimum wage, it will rise to 20,791 liras gross and 17,673 liras net. In this case, the cost to the employer will be approximately 24,428 liras.
If a 60 percent increase is applied to the minimum wage, it will be 21,462 liras gross and 18,248 liras net. The cost to the employer will be 25,218 liras.
My prediction is that the minimum wage support provided to the employer this year will also be increased from 500 liras to 600 or even 650 liras."
