Local election notes: They are confronting AKP members everywhere!

Gazete Pencere columnist Nuray Babacanshared her impressions from the AKP side during the critical local election process.

Babacan stated the following:

"MASSES WHO FEEL THEY HAVE BEEN TREATED UNFAIRLY"

"When AKP members summarize the problems they encounter, they say, 'The first topic is retirees. There are two separate issues within this segment. We frequently encounter those struggling to make ends meet with the lowest pension. The other issue is the group that, despite paying high premiums, sees the gap between their pension and the lowest pension closing, and they feel they have been treated unfairly. Economic problems, inflation, and the cost of living confront us everywhere we go,' they assess."

In her article, where she evaluates that the presence of President and AKP Chairman Erdoğan in the field could yield favorable results in Ankara but unfavorable ones in Istanbul, and that a harsh, polemic-heavy campaign could have drawbacks, Babacan also reported the following:

"İMAMOĞLU IS 2-3 POINTS AHEAD"

"CHP candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu uses social media very effectively and allocates a significant budget for it. There are claims that there is a team constantly monitoring and amplifying Murat Kurum's gaffes. It is noted that İmamoğlu and his team are now using the old methods of the AKP quite effectively.

The polls shared with the public are also reaching the AKP. There are claims that several polls conducted recently show İmamoğlu leading by 2 or 3 points, while their own internal polls still show a neck-and-neck race. Some party members state that the undecided rate in Istanbul is around 15 percent, that half of them will return to their party due to ideological preferences, and that the decision of the remaining ones will be decisive.

EFFORT TO SAVE KURUM!

New promises and new projects will be announced in the final stretch to boost Murat Kurum's momentum, which has failed to rise. As we have written before, ministry projects focused on Istanbul will be launched to coincide with this period. Efforts are being made to provide support with issues such as the transformation of Atatürk Airport into a Techno Park and the Haydarpaşa Train Station project announced last week.

13-POINT GAP IN ANKARA

As for Ankara, there is no significant change in the mood within the party. Mansur Yavaş is leading by a wide margin. It is argued that only Turgut Altınok has gained a few points of momentum, but this has not significantly affected the gap, which remains at 13 points. The Ankara team feels they have been neglected and left alone in the campaign.

DISTRICTS MAY ALSO SWITCH TO CHP

A more interesting observation concerns the districts of Ankara. There are those who say that Mansur Yavaş's expected victory in the capital could have negative consequences for the AKP in the districts. Specifically, it is noted that voters tend to prefer the same party in the district as they do for the metropolitan municipality. It is assessed that this situation could lead to an increase in CHP votes in Ankara's districts, and could even cause some districts currently held by the AKP to switch to the CHP.
