Coca-Cola introduces new cola with cane sugar

US-based beverage giant Coca-Cola has changed its 45-year-old formula to release a special line of cola sweetened with cane sugar in limited regions. The new beverage is offered in classic glass bottles and in a 12-ounce (355 ml) size. This new product stands out as the first original Coca-Cola made with cane sugar produced in the US.

Colas made with cane sugar have been popular for many years, especially in states like Texas. Consumers state that this version has a "cleaner" and "sharper" taste. It is also noted that this version is frequently preferred in blind taste tests.

Coca-Cola switched from cane sugar to high-fructose corn syrup in the 1980s to reduce costs. However, cane sugar continues to be used in some of its sub-brands. The company's Chief Financial Officer, John Murphy, stated that the supply of cane sugar is limited and that production will be carried out gradually. He also emphasized that glass bottle filling capacity needs to be increased.

Due to the higher cost of cane-sugar Coca-Cola, there are currently no plans to produce this product in other countries.
