The 2024 Work Wellbeing 100 list by Indeed and Oxford University has been published. The research reveals that companies with high work wellbeing scores demonstrate better business performance.
The companies on the 2024 Work Wellbeing 100 list, created by Indeed and the Wellbeing Research Centre at the University of Oxford, have been announced.
The list ranks the top 100 publicly traded U.S. companies where employees report high levels of happiness, purpose, and satisfaction, and low levels of stress. It is emphasized that high scores can positively impact a company's business performance.
The research shows that companies with high work wellbeing scores have higher valuations, returns on assets, and profits. These companies outperform stock market indices such as the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite.
RETAIL IS THE MOST COMMON SECTOR
According to a report in CNBC Make It, retail stands out as one of the most common sectors on the list, followed by transportation.
According to a statement by Kyle M.K., a talent strategy advisor at Indeed, most of the companies on the list prioritize work flexibility. These policies grant employees the freedom to choose where and how they work, allowing them to attend doctor's appointments or social events.
At a time when large firms are tightening their policies and forcing employees to work in the office five days a week, more flexible companies are gaining an advantage in recruitment. M.K. says, "Companies that offer choice tend to have a much better reputation among their employees."
H&R Block, which tops the list, offers a hybrid work model and states that 42 percent of its corporate staff work remotely.
Here are the top 20 employers on the list:
H&R Block
Delta Air Lines
L3Harris
Accenture
Nike
Tradesmen International
Disney Parks, Experiences and Products
Addus HomeCare
IBM
Amazon Flex
Apple
The Walt Disney Company
Wipro
Maximus
Vans
Cognizant Technology Solutions
Dutch Bros Coffee
Microsoft
FedEx Freight
According to M.K., most job seekers prefer to work at companies that value their employees. Indeed's list highlights these firms as potential employers that job seekers might consider.
LaFawn Davis, Indeed's Chief People and Sustainability Officer, said, "While work wellbeing has faced challenges in recent years, it is more important than ever for companies to create environments where employees can thrive.
By prioritizing work wellbeing, companies build a happier and more productive workforce. This ultimately supports business growth." M.K. advises job applicants to make decisions by considering their own values.
