Jetstar Asia, a subsidiary of Qantas, has decided to shut down due to increases of up to 200 percent in supplier costs and high airport fees. The company expects a loss of 35 million Australian dollars for this fiscal year.

It was stated that more than 500 employees will be laid off, and passengers will receive full refunds. Some flights may be transferred to other airlines within the Qantas Group.

Jetstar Asia will gradually reduce its flights over the seven weeks leading up to the closure and will inform affected passengers directly.

Qantas announced that the closure of Jetstar Asia will not have a negative impact on its other subsidiaries, Jetstar Airways and Jetstar Japan. This means that the Qantas Group's other airline brands in the region will continue their operations.
