Could We Have Endured?

Greetings,

Free-thinking, free-conscienced, beautiful people.

As you know very well, in these ancient lands of Anatolia, kneaded with folk songs, to say "other than the beloved's cheek" means to say "us." To be "us" begins with becoming one with all the values that give breath to our existence, lending a shoulder to our eternal dance, and becoming a soldier of this sacred ideal.

Of course, when I say dance, do not think that we are the sole owners of this exuberant expression; look at what the work titled "Dance," painted in oil on canvas in 1910 by the French painter Henri Matisse, one of the architects of Modern Art, tells us, makes us feel, and reminds us. Perhaps Matisse drew the inspiration for his work from the Dionysian culture that intoxicated this entire geography of civilizations—which we are also a part of—from Ancient Greece to India with its festivities.

This sacred ideal, as can be seen in Matisse's "Dance" below, guides us in the ideal of being human in a simple nakedness, stripping away everything that could alienate us from one another, and becoming free.

For today, I must also thank the 12 Punto Family, who join hands with us in this dance of liberation and make us companions to one another.

Right now, as you read my article, stop for a moment and ask yourself this question: "If there were no 'art,' could I have endured this world?" Do not answer immediately; think a little, or even think a lot. Actually, thinking a lot is not enough; think constantly.

As you think, you will see that for those who can join the dance and those who want to expand it, "art" has a vital importance, at least as much as bread, water, and air.

Here in this column: while talking about art and discussing art, we will actually be talking about ourselves; we will look at what our story is.

If you are ready, in my next article, we will gaze into the mirror of art.

Let us say that this is enough for our first meeting for now.

Until our next meeting, goodbye for now; right now and always, breathe with art, stay with art.
