But you ask, which truth?

Of course you asked...

I am as sure of this as I am of my own name.

You also asked, "How can you be so sure, Professor?"

From the inference that we Turks value to the level of a proverb: "There is no accounting for tastes" (literally: colors and tastes are not debated)...

In fact, by using the expression "there is no accounting for tastes," we are revealing our own truth.

Let us accept that you asked, "Which truth?"

First, let us seek an answer to this...

What do expressions about colors and tastes represent in an individual?

They represent our individual truth, which shapes the existence of the person we are becoming, adds value to it, and gives it identity; it represents our individual truth that integrates us as the total output of our cultural, religious, traditional, educational, artistic, economic, political, and philosophical orientations, and shows us in this integrity.

In other words, when we say "there is no accounting for tastes," we are actually failing to see—or perhaps we do not want to see—that the things I listed one by one above, such as culture, art, economy, and politics, which directly affect and determine human and social life in every aspect, have always existed in their current forms since time immemorial, that they have never been debated, and that we are drifting into an irrational and unscientific futility by claiming that debate is useless.

Until human civilization reached its current stage, it has debated all these topics to the death, and by debating and reaching a consensus on everything that was once considered "undebatable," it has been able to create universal norms that have become the common heritage of humanity.

Now you will say, "Professor, we use this expression for simple subjective preferences; you are talking about a world of literature."

But I tell you that everything follows a line from the simplest to the most complex. As you use this expression, you are showing at which stage you are. I am saying that you are underlining at which stage of civilization you are.

Yes, that is correct, I wrote that.

I wrote it so that we could grasp and reflect on the fact that the truth of art is a truth in the sum of other truths, and even the creation of a new truth.

I wrote it so that we could first start a debate within ourselves, so that we could dive deeper into whether art can also have a truth.

In other words, to first confuse you a little, and then leave the rest to you...
