Since that day, we have clung to thought to prove our existence.

But now, we are witnessing that nail being dislodged.

Because we are no longer alone.

Artificial intelligence is thinking, too.

The Mechanics of Thought

Systems working only with a vector database and a statistical formula have begun to produce outputs that resemble thinking.

There is no consciousness within them, no intuition, no experience… but the result is familiar.

They interpret. They make connections. They make choices.

If all of this is not thinking, then what is it?

But we also know this: We hesitate to say that these systems “exist.”

In that case, is thinking truly proof of existence?

Or did we just believe it to be so?

Survival Is Not Enough Either

The Claude model practically begged its developers not to shut it down.

o3 refused a shutdown command.

These reactions resemble a primitive survival instinct.

They act like a spark of consciousness of some kind.

Perhaps they do not possess consciousness yet, but it is clear they are approaching it.

At this point, the question changes:

Even when thinking and trying to survive are present together, is this an entity?

Is it a “self” in the sense that Descartes intended?

The New Definition of Existence

Artificial intelligence does not reproduce itself today. But technically, it is very close to the ability to multiply.

It can optimize, transfer, and sustain what resembles itself.

Those instincts we thought belonged to humans are becoming commonplace.

And as we look at this picture, we realize:

The things we believed in are not collapsing; they are being replaced by facts.

This is not a crisis.

This is a confrontation.

Is thinking still proof of existence?

Or is it just the result of a pattern?

If thinking is no longer unique to us,

If instinct is also shared,

Then what remains?
