I have witnessed many periods where paradigm shifts occurred in technology and the world.
The internet was one of them. Artificial intelligence is a new and perhaps even more disruptive wave of change. Paradigm shifts do not just change that specific field; they alter all concepts, priorities, and perspectives.
For some time now, when talking about the future of energy, I have been asking, "What if your energy usage decreases?" Most of the time, this perspective is not fully understood, even by experts in the field.
Yet the example is simple: In the 1980s, halogen lamps in our living rooms consumed 500 watts of energy per hour. Today, an average LED light we use consumes only 5 watts per hour.
This means providing the same lighting with 1/100th of the energy. This development is not unique to lighting; the same logic can be applied to every field, from automotive to industrial production, and from home appliances to software.
In this context, the 5th generation hybrid system developed by BYD is a remarkable example. The electric motor, which operates with an efficiency of over 46%, offers a range of 2,100 kilometers with a full tank and a fully charged battery. Fuel consumption is just 2.6 liters per 100 kilometers.
BYD should be congratulated for this step.
Because this approach should be the new paradigm not only for the automotive sector but for all companies developing innovation:
To do more work with less energy. Efficiency is no longer just an economic choice; it is technology itself.
