The man is a big man.

Height, exactly one ninety-one.

Rich as can be.

Mansions, baths, apartment buildings...

Fields, plots of land...

Money...

The man is handsome.

Height is one ninety-one...

The sole boss of six factories.

Hundreds of workers.

And his workers,

Are on strike these days.

The man is full of pride and arrogance.

Rage...

Madness, ruthlessness.

Well, this man of pride and arrogance

Had a strike at one of his factories.

The arrogant man got into his car.

His driver at the wheel,

He himself settled in the back.

His bodyguards are following his car.

They arrived at the strike site.

The union president,

The union executives,

The workers on strike are all there.

A veeery old laborer,

Was giving a speech to the workers on strike.

The listeners are respectful and silent.

Such a silence that

If a fly flew by, it would be heard.

Like finding water in the desert

They are drinking it in,

The old laborer's speech...

Our arrogant man,

Got curious.

He pulled his car to a place where the workers couldn't see him.

He too started to listen.

The old laborer was telling a story:

Once upon a time, there was a fairly large district.

A new district governor was appointed to this district.

He was a proud, arrogant man who had lost his head with his new status.

He wanted everyone to show him respect.

He wanted them to bow before him.

He wanted everyone to tremble before him

Out of fear and respect,

And to bow down to the ground.

One day, this governor was returning from the city.

He was sitting proudly and arrogantly on his horse

As stiff as if he had swallowed a cane.

In the places he passed through

Everyone was bowing to the ground out of fear.

Our Bektashi dervish too

Was at the foot of a tree by the side of the road,

Drinking a sip or two of wine.

Before he could even take another sip

The governor arrived and passed right in front of him.

He went on to his office.

He went, but this Bektashi dervish,

Didn't care at all.

Did the governor pass by?

Did a bird fly by?

It was none of the Bektashi's concern.

Anyway,

Let's not drag out the story.

Let's not lose the essence.

The governor was very angry.

"Hey, look at that dervish," he said.

"Look at what he did.

He didn't even pay us any mind."

He called the chief of police.

"Bring that Bektashi dervish to my presence

Immediately."

The poor dervish was dragged

Into the governor's presence.

When the governor saw the Bektashi,

He puffed up like a turkey.

"You insolent man," he roared.

"Who are you that the great me,

That is, the governor of the district, is passing by,

And you don't stand up?

Why?

Tell me now."

The Bektashi said:

"It's quite simple.

Because I am greater than you," he said.

The governor was furious with rage.

"How can this be, you wretch?"

The Bektashi said:

"What are you now?"

"I am a governor. A great governor."

The Bektashi:

"And then?"

The governor:

"I will become a governor of a larger district."

The Bektashi:

"And then?"

The governor:

"Then I will become a provincial governor."

The Bektashi:

"Eeee, and then?"

The governor:

"I will go to the Sultan's palace and become a vizier."

The dervish:

"Let's say you became that too. And then?"

The governor:

"I will become the Grand Vizier."

The Bektashi:

"Let's say you became that too. And then?"

The governor:

"Maybe I'll become the Sultan."

The Bektashi:

"And then?"

The governor:

"Then nothing."

The Bektashi:

"Mr. Governor, you went around and around.

You struggled and strived, and in the end, you will be nothing.

I am already a nothing.

So, my current status

Is much, much greater than your status."

The governor was left speechless.

He fell into deep thought.

The old laborer concluded his words as follows.

Laborer brothers,

Retired comrades!

To be a nothing in this story

Means to have an independent personality.

It means to love the people and serve the people.

It means not being self-serving.

It means being honest.

It means being on the side of labor and justice.

It means to love.

It means to love people and nature.

It means not being beholden to anyone.
