Cübbeli Ahmet points to Ebu Hanzala group following ISIS attack: 'Who is allowing these people to open such places?'

Ahmet Mahmut Ünlü, known to the public as Cübbeli Ahmet, made striking statements regarding the operation conducted against ISIS in Yalova.

Cübbeli Ahmet stated that the social media posts of Zafer Mutlu, one of the individuals killed in Yalova, contained the views of figures using the aliases Ebu Haris and Ebu Hanzala.

Cübbeli continued his remarks as follows:

“Now, who is poisoning this nation, who brought this nation to this state? In İzmir, a 16-year-old child martyred 3 police officers. They say, 'We will cut off all your heads, we will blow up all your police stations.' Who gave this mindset to this 16-year-old child? That child's posts also contain the names of these men (Ebu Haris-Ebu Hanzala).”

After stating that the Ebu Hanzala circle is poisoning the nation, declaring people as infidels (takfir), and laying the groundwork for destructive activities through their work, Cübbeli Ahmet continued his words:

“They have built such places, such mosques, that they are poisoning the nation... Calling this one an infidel, that one an infidel... And then they take that poison, and they kill you, they kill me...”

Objecting to the Ebu Hanzala group continuing its activities freely, Cübbeli Ahmet noted that these individuals call those who vote 'infidels' and refer to imams as 'taghut infidels,' and concluded his words as follows:

“Who is allowing these men to open such places, how is this opportunity still being granted?”

In his statement, Cübbeli Ahmet mentioned that individuals in the Ebu Hanzala group are occasionally imprisoned and then released, before making these shocking remarks:

“These men are raising the nation as terrorists.”

Stating that he has been warning about Salafi groups for a long time and has informed the relevant authorities that these structures are advancing and arming themselves, Cübbeli Ahmet concluded his words:

“In the file we submitted to the police, there is a total of 7,000 pages of evidence, including a 1,500-page report. 80 pages of this file are dedicated to Yalova.”

Cübbeli Ahmet's statements regarding the ISIS operation in Yalova point to a mentality issue in Turkey that is ignored, beyond daily polemics.

What is truly remarkable in these statements is his drawing attention to the extent to which “religious language” and “propaganda” can reach. A 16-year-old child viewing state officials as “infidels” and considering killing them legitimate shows much more than individual deviance. This is the result of a systematically produced mind.

Therefore, the issue is not just about “who is speaking” or “which names.” The real problem is the religious interpretations that circulate freely in the public sphere and organize in an uncontrolled manner, darkening lives. Structures that view democracy and secularism as a regime of infidelity and poison the masses with theocratic propaganda somehow cultivate a mindset for terrorist organizations. Because, just as it was yesterday, terrorist organizations today do not first teach how to kill people, but how to sever the bond between humans.
