Calls for the caliphate and sharia are a rebellion against the constitutional order and the republic

I watched a street interview. They hold a microphone out to a disheveled man, around 30-35 years old, looking like something out of a nightmare, with wild eyes, a face covered in hair, and teeth that have likely never seen a toothbrush in his life, and they ask him;

“What would you like to see change in this country, why are you not satisfied?”

“I want sharia to come to Turkey.” (Everyone, please put down your toothbrushes calmly; we are moving on to the miswak.)

“Why do you want this?”

“Turkey should be governed by sharia! I hope and pray to God that sharia comes to our country. I am calling out to our president from here, let him bring sharia. I am calling out to all parties, bring sharia as soon as possible.”

(He probably thinks sharia is like falafel or something; you place an order, and boom, sharia is at your door. It is also quite ironic that he can call out to all the parties.)

“Why do you think it should be this way?”

“It will be better.”

(The man’s Turkish is extremely poor, so the host must have been suspicious and asks;)

“Where did you come from to Turkey?”

“From Syria.”

“Why did you come?”

“Well, it’s nice here.”

“Well, if it’s nice, why do you want it to change?”

“Turkey is a Muslim country, it should be governed by sharia.”

“Turkey is a secular country and is governed by a republic.”

(When the questions start to break his rehearsed script, he begins a persistent repetition, which is normal, of course; he has no idea what to say when his script is broken.)

“Sharia will come.”

“Well, if that’s the case, why did you come here? There are countries governed by sharia, why didn’t you go there?”

(He hasn’t studied this part; these lines weren’t memorized for him. No answer, just blank stares…)

“I am repeating my question, why didn’t you go to Afghanistan? It is governed by sharia. Since you would be happier in a country governed by sharia, why did you choose to come to Turkey then?”

(Inability to answer and turning around to walk away…)

With state-of-the-art wireless headphones in his ears, a turban on his head, and a robe on his back… I bet my life that if you took his phone and looked through it, you would find photos of women, hidden-camera shots, photos of small children—boys or girls, it doesn’t matter—and messages sent to his friends saying, “There are plenty of girls here, you guys come too.” Because these people are the definition of ‘preaching virtue while practicing vice’…

He is someone who doesn’t even realize he can speak like this thanks to the freedom provided by the Republic… Hey you, you human scrap with no intellect and no knowledge, have you ever thought about whether you would be able to speak so openly once sharia arrives? You won’t even be able to grow or trim that wispy, cotton-candy-like beard of yours as you please, you won’t be able to style it how you want, you won’t be able to construct sentences starting with ‘I am calling out to my president,’ and do you know what? You are not someone who will make decisions about this country, offer commentary, or interfere with our future at all. 

We hear those who, disregarding the laws of the Republic of Turkey, scream for the caliphate and sharia in an attempt to destroy the state and change the regime.

We see that almost everywhere in the world, protests in support of Palestine have turned into shows of defiance against secular states.

First, they flee their own countries and migrate to the civilized countries of the modern world, then they reveal the darkness within them and want to bring sharia to the civilization they have moved to. We are facing an organized, conscious evil and ignorance.

In fact, this ignorance is to such an extent that someone even came out and said “secular caliphate.” (As if! Or should I say, ‘epistemological rupture!!!’)

Turkey should lead it, it should be an entity like the United Nations, a secular caliphate. (Let’s imagine a secular caliphate as a mythological creature that is an animal from the waist down, human from the waist up, with horns on its head; it can swim under the sea, fly in the skies, and cross from Afghanistan to Switzerland in one step.)

The person who uttered these sentences is an associate professor. (Diplomated ignorance has spoken to the cameras.) Either she doesn’t know the meaning of the word secular, or someone told her to construct a cool but religious sentence containing the word secular, and she got excited and rambled; there is no other explanation. Another person speaking with the freedom provided by the Republic, and moreover, this person is a woman…

Just as I was muttering to myself in such anger, I come across another video. This time, someone who cannot feel the uplifting hand of the republic behind her is speaking…

A woman living in Afghanistan says into the microphone, “I wish God had never created women; we are treated worse than animals, we can’t even go outside the house,” in a voice trembling with fear and half-crying…

They have even taken away the belief that things could be different for women on this earth from this young woman—perhaps she isn’t even an adult, I should call her a child, as it is not really possible to understand her age because we cannot see her face through the rags she is covered in.… 

One cannot help but wonder what the women here, who lean on all the rights the republic has given them and pour into the streets to chant slogans for the caliphate, think when they watch this video!

Is every soul created by God not equal, after all?

Would God ever create His servants so that one could crush the other?

Is man not the noblest of all creatures? 

Finally, I stumble upon another video and my heart is relieved…

A gentleman in his 70s, dressed impeccably, clean-shaven, well-groomed, and sharp as a razor, says the following into the microphone extended to him with his beautiful Turkish;

“Turkey is not anyone’s father’s farm. The Republic of Turkey is a social, democratic, and secular state of law. Whatever practice may be contrary to these constitutional facts, there is an Ataturkist force that will stand against it; let them never forget this!
