Today is the last day of the year.
Tomorrow morning, we will open our eyes to the new year.
In reality, moving from December 31 to January 1 is nothing more than turning a page on the calendar.
It does not hold the significance of equinox dates, when days and nights are at their longest, shortest, or equal, nor does it mark a climatic transition or period that the ancients named, such as the Indian summer, the dead of winter, or the bitter cold.
Yet, the vast majority of the 8 billion people on Earth enter the new year by celebrating in their own way when the clock strikes 00.00 on the night of December 31, according to the calendar commissioned by Pope Gregory XIII.
For many, the new year means new hopes, new excitements, and new beginnings!
It is an artificial starting line to satisfy that strong human need for refreshment, purification, renewal, and leaving the old behind to continue on the path with the new...
But the reality of the world is different!
Wars, conflicts, massacres, genocides, economic crises, political strife, uncontrolled migration movements, identity politics, social destruction; in short, whatever imperialism deems fit for us continues unabated.
Even on New Year's, there is no break!
Unfortunately, the world does not become a bed of roses with the magical touch of the new year after turning the calendar page.
The next morning, everything continues exactly where it left off.
2024 was extremely difficult. Both in the world and in Turkey...
Unfortunately, it is not really possible to make a projection that promises hope for 2025 either.
Perhaps the war in Ukraine could end; with America shaking hands with Russia behind closed doors, this issue, which has turned into a nightmare for Putin, could finally be resolved.
With Trump coming to the White House, the rampant globalists might potentially be checked, and the arrogance of the identity politicians might be reined in.
But in the region that concerns us closely, namely the Middle East, the pot seems set to keep boiling.
Pandora's box was opened in Syria after HTS seized power following the collapse of the Ba'ath regime. They have no interest in democracy, human rights, or the rule of law. It is clear that they are dragging their feet on the issues of a new constitution and elections...
They are advertising to the world that they "toppled the Ba'ath dictatorship," but anyone who is not blind can see that they have begun to establish a literally Islamo-fascist order.
Moreover, America's puppet, the PKK/PYD, will be among the founders of the new Syria. Jihadist terrorists and Kurdish terrorists will take their roles in the Middle Eastern theater with the approval of their masters across the Atlantic.
Syria's business is done for now! However, it is believed that it will be Iran's turn in 2025.
Even though it has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Russia, there is no guarantee that Putin will not leave Iran high and dry after sitting down to negotiate with America. We witnessed this closely in the Syrian matter.
After Iran, America will put us in its crosshairs this time; no one should have any doubt about that.
In these circumstances, it is not difficult to predict that 2025 will be very difficult.
We are becoming poorer every day due to the economic crisis that Tayyip has knowingly and willingly created. There is no chance that inflation will fall anyway. Taxes and price hikes are breaking our backs. A significant portion of my fellow citizens is living almost below the poverty line.
On the other hand, Tayyip is preoccupied with making the PKK and its political extensions partners in the country's title deed so that he can remain in power until his final hour. Judging by the statements made by Sırrı Süreyya Önder and Pervin Buldan after their visits to İmralı, Abdullah Öcalan has already become a partner of the People's Alliance. Those who, until yesterday, hid behind the lie that the CHP was collaborating with the PKK using edited videos are now pinning their hopes on registered terrorists.
Özgür Özel, who should be dismantling this dirty scheme set up to drive the final nail into the coffin of the Republic of Turkey—a secular, democratic, and unitary state—is just talking nonsense and continuing his collaborative opposition.
It is unclear what he says or what he means.
While Tayyip is working with Kurdish nationalists to secure his own future, this figure at the head of the main opposition is ceasing to be a source of hope for my fellow citizens with each passing day.
We do not know if he is aware that he will go down in the country's political history as someone who squandered and finished off his hard-won election victory in three days like a spoiled, reckless heir, but he has lost all seriousness since he began bowing and scraping before Tayyip in the name of "thawing" and "normalization."
Victory Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ said that Tayyip might call a snap election in June 2025. It is possible; Özgür Özel is constantly talking nonsense, dragging down Ekrem İmamoğlu and Mansur Yavaş, who were ahead of Tayyip in the polls until a few months ago. The strategic game-makers in Beştepe are aware of this too. They are constantly preparing the ground for Özgür Özel to talk even more nonsense so that the mayors in whom the opposition base has placed great hope are knocked out of the race.
When we look at the polls conducted in the last month, Tayyip has pulled ahead by a wide margin again.
It is clear that he will exploit the Syrian issue to the fullest.
It would not be a surprise if he fills his sails with the wind blowing from there and heads to an election.
Perhaps, first a constitutional amendment, then a snap election...
In other words, 2025 will be a critical year for the future of the country. Let's call it a matter of life and death. By this time next year, we might not have a country left in this form.
The village in sight needs no guide.
But there is no reason to lose heart.
Let us conclude our article with the words of the great leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who said, "There are no hopeless situations, there are only hopeless people. I have never lost my hope," and wish that 2025 brings us all health, happiness, and prosperity first and foremost; let us end our piece by wishing that in the new year, the common sense of my fellow citizens will finally prevail, that they will see the traps laid before the country, and that they will uphold the founding values.
