The village landlord had gotten on his tractor and was heading to the town market.

On the way, he ran into Memet, the village shepherd.

Memet was also walking toward the town.

The landlord called Memet over to the tractor and said, "Let's go together."

After talking about this and that for a while, the conversation died down, and the landlord got bored.

It was right then that a mischievous thought crossed his mind.

Thinking it would be a bit of fun, he stopped the tractor and turned to Memet.

"Hey Memet," he said, "do you see that cow dung* on the side of the road?"

"Yes, I see it, my landlord," Memet replied, nodding his head.

The landlord continued, "Hey Memet, if you eat that dung, I'll give you this tractor."

Memet was surprised, stunned...

He thought to himself, "Man," he said, "I could never own something like this in my entire life. If I close my eyes and eat this crap, I'll become the owner of this tractor."

He turned and, after confirming the landlord's offer by asking, "Is that for real, my landlord?", he got off the tractor and ate the dung on the side of the road in one go.

The landlord's intention was actually to make fun of Memet, but seeing what had happened, he was also surprised and, keeping his word, he got up from the driver's seat and gave the tractor to Memet.

Toward evening, when they finished their business and were returning to the village, the new owner of the tractor, Memet, picked up the landlord and they set off for the village.

They set off, but the landlord was upset, and so was Memet...

The landlord was upset because, while trying to have a little fun, he had lost his beautiful tractor to Memet the shepherd.

Memet was upset because he thought about how he would be humiliated and shamed in the village when it was heard that he had eaten the dung and received this tractor in return, and he began looking for a way out for himself.

While they were traveling with these thoughts, Memet suddenly stopped the tractor and turned to the landlord.

"My landlord," he said, "I know you're upset, and so am I. Look, do you see that dung on the side of the road? If you eat that dung, I'll give the tractor back to you."

The landlord was already full of great regret; the tractor was weighing on his mind. He immediately jumped onto the road and, closing his eyes, ate the dung in one go.

Then Memet got up from the driver's seat, and the landlord sat down...

As they approached the village, the landlord turned to Memet and asked:

"Hey Memet, this tractor was mine when we were going to town, right?"

"Yes, it was yours, my landlord," he said, nodding his head.

The landlord continued, "And it's mine while returning from town, right?"

Memet repeated, "It's yours, my landlord."

"WELL THEN, MEMET, WHY DID WE EAT THIS CRAP?"

When Tayyip, while returning from Germany, said, "... we weren't enemies with Syria yesterday. We were meeting with Assad as families. We will extend our invitation. Hopefully, with this invitation, we want to bring Turkey-Syria relations to the same point as they were in the past. Our invitation could happen at any moment. As for the meeting taking place in Turkey, Mr. Putin has approaches...", this story by the great master Aziz Nesin came to my mind.

In fact, he has officially declared the bankruptcy of the Syria policy he constructed with the dream of bringing the Muslim Brotherhood to power and becoming the caliph of the Ummah, looking at the Middle East through a Sunni lens.

Let's rewind the tape a bit.

The true architect of this absurdity was Ahmet Davutoğlu, who was playing Neo-Ottomanism.

His entire concern was to replace the paradigm of foreign policy based on national interests after the founding of the republic with the fallacy of strategic depth.

He received the support of Tayyip, who had been captivated by the magic of the applause rising from the Arab streets, and pressed the button.

Turkey began to harass its neighbor, with whom it shares its longest border, to force it to hand the country over to Islamist organizations.

And they fed this to the people of my country quite well with fairy tales about how Turkey had become a great power.

Then...

Mistaking what they saw in their wet dreams for reality, they volunteered to serve imperialism, which had turned its eyes toward the secular nation-states in the Middle East with the Arab Spring.

Without any mercy, they poured gasoline on the fire in Syria; they turned Turkey into a reliable route for weapons, ammunition, and jihadists heading to that country, and they let every kind of riffraff from every corner of the world into Syria.

Just as they stood by and watched beautiful cities like Hama, Homs, and Aleppo being razed to the ground, they applauded the looters who did it.

They displaced millions of people who had been living their own lives until that day; they trained and equipped the hordes of murderers they gathered from here and there so they would fight against Assad, and not stopping there, they put them on the state payroll.

They effectively tore the country apart. They paved the way for the PKK to settle in the north of the country and establish cantons there.

Not satisfied with that, they sent Turkish soldiers into Syria. To satisfy their ambitions, they mixed the blood of the Turkish soldier into their bread.

Smuggling at the border ran rampant.

In short, there was no evil they did not commit.

They caused great harm not only to Syria but also to Turkey.

Unfortunately, in the process that began with the Arab Spring, Turkey suffered the most after Libya and Syria, and it is still suffering.

While Tayyip was dreaming of entering Syria to perform Friday prayers at the Umayyad Mosque, Syria entered us!

With the migration that began in 2011, the border became blurred, and the country turned into a revolving door.

The number of refugees in Turkey is just over 3 million according to official figures. But everyone knows that, like the figures from TÜİK, this does not reflect the truth. It is clear that there are nearly 10 million Syrians in the country, registered or unregistered. It is said that the bill for the policy that Tayyip is now preparing to U-turn on has cost Turkey more than a quarter of a trillion dollars.

They squandered the taxes collected from our hard-earned income, which is as legitimate as our mother's milk, for their own empty dreams.

Now he comes out and says:

"We want to bring Turkey-Syria relations to the same point as they were in the past"

Well, are you going to leave the table without paying the bill?

Are we going to ignore the past 13 years; are you going to ignore all this pain, all this destruction, the hundreds of thousands of people whose deaths you caused, and say, "What's done is done. Let's look at the upcoming matches now"?

THERE IS NO SUCH WORLD!

Let us commemorate a great master like Aziz Nesin once again, and let us set an appointment for Tuesday to seek an answer to the question of whether a normalization can easily be achieved between Turkey and Syria, and bring our article to a close.
