A matter of 'character' in a 'post-truth' world!

According to the Turkish Language Association's General Turkish Dictionary, “yaradılış” (nature/character) means “The entirety of the physical and spiritual traits and natural talents that a person is born with. The state of something in terms of the characteristics it acquired while being created.”

This adjective generally has a negative connotation.

But when you say someone is “cibilliyeti bozuk” (of corrupt character), it acts as an explicit insult or even a profanity.

On Monday, he said, “We showed our solidarity with the Palestinian people by declaring a day of mourning in our country. Some people with corrupt characters on certain screens could not stomach the attention we showed them. Were we supposed to ask for your permission before making a decision?”

It was clear he was very angry at those who criticized the declaration of mourning for Haniyeh.

The fact that Instagram did not publish the condolence message for Haniyeh added fuel to the fire.

He declared, "They deleted my post, so there is no more Instagram for you."

The whole world knows that he does not hit the brakes when he gets angry. Whether there is a teleprompter in front of him or not, he says whatever comes to his mind.

Of course, with the immunity of sitting in that office, no matter who he talks to or how he insults them, there are no legal consequences.

Let us underline this with a thick pen; he is the exact average of the base he represents in politics...

Neither a little less nor a little more.

That is why he experiences no "communication" problems with the people of my country who vote for him.

Every message he conveys in his speeches reaches the audience he addresses completely, without any loss of meaning.

When he does this using the “imam's tone” that he uses so well, he adds an otherworldly air to his message, so that its wisdom may not be questioned.

Those who want to understand the psychopathology behind the polarization of politics in Turkey after 2002 should look at this first.

However, it seems the scales have tipped a bit too far in the Haniyeh matter!

The people of my country did not care at all, so to speak, about the one-day mourning issue.

However, even though his own voter base accepts every sentence that comes out of his mouth without question, as if it were a verse from the Quran, they did not seem to quite understand why the matter went as far as shutting down Instagram.

The trolls carefully nurtured by the government, the nouveau-riche AKP members snorting powdered sugar in their million-dollar cars, the “Süslümanlar” (fake-pious) putting diamond rings on infants, the post-modern cultists preaching Sharia five times a day, the frauds chasing after lucrative government tenders with their weekly “blessed Friday” messages, and many others realized they were left high and dry when they clicked the icon on their smartphones in the morning and encountered the “could not refresh feed” warning.

Their bewilderment was reflected on social media platforms other than Instagram with their tearful posts.

They were like fish out of water.

Then there are those who make a living through the social media platform in question.

Their numbers are not to be underestimated.

When the locks were put on the doors of their bread and butter, they became incredibly victimized.

We are talking about billions of liras in losses.

It is clear that this will not be written as votes for the AKP in the elections.

It is known that the government has used social media effectively, especially after 2010. It is no secret that they allocate very serious budgets to these matters, nurture tens of thousands of trolls, and conduct virtual operations with bot accounts.

They take full advantage of the benefits of Facebook in particular.

Social media plays a huge role in their ability to quickly and strongly fortify the nationalist and religious masses.

Aside from the virtual terror stirred up by troll accounts, they can also keep their finger on the pulse of the voters here.

So, why did they shut down Instagram out of the blue, as if shooting themselves in the foot?

This created a huge void in the social media universe in Turkey. It is not very possible for other platforms to fill this void in a short time.

It is clear that they are now having difficulty controlling the freak system they created. In the past, they would calculate and take steps more or less. However, in recent years, they have started to swing at whatever comes their way.

Whatever mood His Majesty wakes up in, his inner circle takes their position accordingly. One day it is like this, the next day it is like that. And then they do backflips to try and clean up the mess...

He does not care that Turkey has dropped in the rankings for fundamental rights and freedoms and has come to the same line as North Korea, but we do not know if they will eat their words soon because the issue has touched their own voters.

For a while longer, they will try to appease the people of my country by saying they will create domestic and national social media platforms. Afterwards, it seems they will open Instagram with empty propaganda claiming, “We brought Meta to its knees. They accepted everything we wanted.”

What if they don't open it...
