Dilek İmamoğlu...

Don't leave your news choices to an algorithm - decide for yourself what you read. Add 12punto to your preferred sources!

I will be blunt: when the local election results on March 31 manifested in favor of the CHP, the first thing I started thinking about was who would talk nonsense, when, and how much.

In the last 35 years of Turkey, I have witnessed many politicians who could not digest election successes, spoke absurdities under the influence of victory intoxication, and behaved in a spoiled manner.

When I think about Özgür Özel's "newly-found" state after winning the party congress and sitting in the CHP Chairmanship seat, I said to myself, "Oh no";

"I hope they don't make people regret the votes they cast."

A week later, they started to fall apart.

I am extremely sorry that they did not prove me wrong.

Leaving Özgür Özel for later, let's look at Dilek İmamoğlu, the esteemed wife of Ekrem İmamoğlu, who brought Tayyip to his knees in Istanbul for the third time.

She is educated, cultured; when you look at her from afar, she is a quintessential republican woman.

Moreover, she has a doctorate. Last year, she wore her gown with her thesis titled "Generation Y leadership expectations, the effect of autocratic and democratic leadership styles on integration and development."

At the beginning of the week, she gave an interview to Cansu Çamlıbel from T24.

While answering a question about whether Emine Erdoğan returns her invitations, she said, "A letter came for our first Women's Day event. I received a very nice thank-you letter from Ms. Emine. Other than that, we haven't had any communication. But of course, there will be from now on. Why not? We will extend our offer again. I would like to be together. I would like to do projects together with Ms. Emine. Because, after all, she is a very valuable person known to the country. And she is also doing very beautiful projects. I would like to do projects for girls, for women with her."

Let's say we ignored the fact that, despite all her qualifications, she is merely the wife of the Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and holds no political title.

But let us ask, why?

I mean, when there are so many institutions, organizations, associations, foundations, and people in Turkey to cooperate with and produce and implement projects together regarding women and girls, why Emine Erdoğan...

What is the point of legitimizing a mentality that views you and people like you as enemies, humiliates you when the time comes by asking "is she a woman or a girl," strives for girls who haven't even reached puberty to wear headscarves, and hates free women, and then singing tunes in a "love-bug" style!

Doesn't Dilek İmamoğlu know that Emine Erdoğan's husband withdrew Turkey from the Istanbul Convention with just a presidential decree? Is she not aware that violence against women has peaked during the AKP era?

What is the logic of trying to make political Islamists look cute through symbols like Emine Erdoğan?

Furthermore, what kind of project can be developed with a mentality that deems women as second-class citizens, opposes the education of girls, and finds the Taliban close to itself!

It is understood from her interview that Ekrem Bey's wife has also carved out a mission for herself in politics.

She wants to work with Emine Erdoğan and contribute to softening the tension in politics:

"I think that even if we only carry out one project together, even that would soften this tense atmosphere in Turkey. Our togetherness and communication would of course be incredibly good for Turkey. In order for the message of peace, tranquility, the language of love, and that we are not different from each other in this country to find a response in 86 million, women must first achieve this. The way to this passes through women. That's why I want women to be more at the forefront. We can achieve this with Ms. Emine. I'm putting a period here."

Let us ask again; is it your duty to soften this tension?

Who assigned this task to you!

If Dilek İmamoğlu looks at social media, she can see that the reaction towards her is by no means negligible.

Let's come to Özgür Özel...

For some reason, these CHP members have a constant effort to curry favor with the pro-government media and the fed journalists of the pro-government media.

It is common knowledge how Özgür Özel, right after the party congress, sang tunes to a self-proclaimed anchor like Buket Aydın, calling her with the demeanor of a child in need of attention and saying, "Look, I became the CHP Chairman," waiting for a "well done."

Now he has gone and spoken to the government's hitman, the Sabah newspaper.

As reflected on social media, he used "groundbreaking expressions!" to Yavuz Donat.

He said he would request an appointment from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in the new term, and stated that they would stay away from the politics of "I will not come to you" as in the past.

Then he said, "I will call the President on the holiday. I will congratulate him on his holiday. Afterwards, I will say some things to him. However... We will never, ever compromise on courtesy and respect for offices."

We do not know why he entered into an effort to curry favor with Tayyip after such an election victory.

What could be the justification for this pathetic approach against a mentality that says whatever it wants to the CHP, calls Atatürk and İnönü "two drunks," humiliates the founding philosophy of the republic as "the CHP mentality," and portrays the country's main opposition party as a terrorist organization?

If the issue is the sanctity of the office, it has been a long time since Tayyip abolished that.

Now, when one says office, Tayyip himself is understood.

Doesn't Özgür Özel know that the man whose door he will go to and stand in a submissive posture has destroyed democracy, secularism, human rights, and the rule of law in Turkey; finished the economy, and sold out the country to this and that?

If he doesn't know, he should leave the CHP Chairmanship seat immediately.

If he knows and still wants to go, then shame on him!

One would have liked to write more beautiful articles on this holiday, but unfortunately, the country's conditions do not quite allow for it.

Despite everything, let us put a period to our article with the wish that you have a happy, peaceful, and healthy holiday.
