Düriye's pitchers

Whether they are tinned or not is another matter, but in our neighborhood, the registered enemies of the Republic and Atatürk who have turned to Kurdish nationalism by conforming to the "spirit of the times"—these fake leftists—have been experiencing a tremendous disappointment lately!

Perhaps due to their self-proclaimed artistry, they sang praises of Sırrı Süreyya as an artist; but when he started acting as a messenger for İmralı and donned the mantle of a peace dove, only to start talking about religion, faith, God, the Quran, and the Prophet to curry favor with those in power, they were so stunned that you wouldn't believe it.

Actually, there was no problem with him being an enemy of the Republic, but his leaning so heavily toward those in power broke their hearts.

What "good" had they ever seen from him anyway!

Thanks to the Republic, he was able to eat three meals a day only when he came to university, learned that rice was served alongside dried beans, filled his hungry stomach, and later managed to find work; despite all his hostility and hatred, he even rose to the position of deputy speaker in the TBMM, the most supreme institution of the Republic, but never mind, these were not "good" things, just unnecessary details.

If it weren't for the Republic, he would have been a sharecropper herding the landlord's sheep in his village.

Perhaps his hatred was rooted in this; he couldn't let go of the smell of sheep dung ingrained in his subconscious, who knows?

Let's continue...

But there is no end to the worst!

Once upon a time, they had pinned their hopes on Selahaddin as well.

They weren't unjustified.

He was well-read, articulate, played the saz, didn't pay too much attention to Kandil, and kept an "eh, whatever" distance from İmralı.

He didn't come from the main vein that feeds Kurdish nationalism, the Kurmanji speakers; he was a Zaza who didn't even know Kurdish.

He was from the Marxist tradition.

Since there wasn't a proper left-wing or social democratic party in the country that hadn't fallen into the swamp of identity politics, there was talk that he could very well be the new leader of the left.

Moreover, because he said, "We will not make you President," Tayyip, along with İmralı and Kandil, pulled his strings and had him thrown in jail.

But exactly one year ago, at the Kobani trial hearing, he came out and said:

“The civilization of these lands is Islamic civilization. Some of the Turkish socialists do not know these things, and because they do not know, they cannot reach the society. These lands that brought us into existence are also Islamic civilization. It is Islamic civilization that has sustained us all for 1300 years. Islamic civilization is not backward or anything.”

Naturally, there was a disappointment in that camp...

Okay, we are enemies of the Republic and Atatürk, but it would have been better if you hadn't saluted these uncouth Islamists like that, they grumbled.

But never mind, prison conditions and all... No need to make a big deal out of it.

But suddenly, it was remembered that in an interview he gave 9 years ago to Ruşen Çakır, the godfather of the fund-recipients, he had said, "The biggest reason why the Turkish society and the left cannot meet is this hostility toward Islam."

So, human memory was not afflicted with forgetfulness this time. When pushed into a corner, the fabric's dye would just fade.

Let's ignore it again.

What mattered was the sustenance of Kurdish nationalism... They shouldn't miss this rising trend.

But this time, they didn't calculate that he would lean toward İmralı.

They had, of course, run with salt shakers in hand to the unnamed process that Bahçeli had initiated as if tearing himself apart.

No one expected otherwise anyway.

However, by persistently pointing to the Parliament as if saying, "It must be a Roman, even if it's made of mud," they fell into the trouble of trying to please both Jesus and Moses.

Their eyes were on Selahaddin.

Because as long as DEM continued to worship before the registered terrorist Apo, the people of my country were fuming. There was no need to take that risk; they could solve this matter siga siga, without making too much noise in Parliament. (Let's not leave room for misunderstandings, it means 'slowly' in Greek. It is used for young people who row too fast or are too flustered.)

But for instance, even if Selahaddin had mumbled something to the effect of, "Forget about İmralı and Kandil, Tayyip is already willing. We'll change the Constitution, and that's it. I can lead this. Besides, whatever Apo says, who is going to take him seriously in Iraq or Syria?" they would have been dancing with joy.

They hadn't pinned their hopes on Selahaddin because their allergy to the imperialist servitude coming from their leftist genes had flared up, but because they couldn't predict who would hold the strings when the matter reached Apo.

But he brutally destroyed these hopes.

In the statement he made after the visit of the DEM members in Edirne, he blurted out, "I would like to state that I have full trust and support for Mr. Abdullah Öcalan, who is making a great effort for a democratic solution and peace on the İmralı Isolation Island."

In other words, he declared his loyalty to Apo.

Let's conclude the article with Sırrı Süreyya.

In an interview he gave last month, he again spewed hatred at the Republic, saying, "While God is being erased from every field, God forbid, the state has put itself in God's place and has drawn a line by equating itself with God for crimes committed against it. This line, that is, the state's line, unlike in Islamic law, is not something that can be foreseen or known in advance. The only way to realize that our state, which does not know its own limits, has crossed its limit/line is to cross the limit."

One should be surprised at those who are surprised by what he said.

He never felt the need to hide himself, of course, for those who wanted to see. The people of my country were not as interested in these issues as they were in Düriye's pitchers.

For example, at a reception given by Tayyip in 2014, he had the people around him burst into laughter with his answer to Emine Hanım's question, "Where are you from?" by saying, "I am from Adıyaman, excuse me, I am a Turk, I am undergoing treatment"!!!

It's not a secret; open the newspaper archives dated August 29, 2014, and you will see!

Our fake leftists, the fair-weather Kurdish nationalists, immediately slap the racist label on those who defend the nation-state, the equality of citizens, fundamental rights and freedoms, and the idea that sameness rather than differences should be exalted; those who say that identity politics will drag this country and its people into disaster—well, let's see where they will put these words of Sırrı Süreyya that reek of racism and hatred.

I wonder if anyone stood up and reacted, saying, "Hey friend, what you're saying constitutes a hate crime"?

If you say Turkish nation, it's a crime; if you engage in Kurdish racism, it's applause...

Let us ask if you have understood why Sırrı Süreyya became the most acceptable personality during this period of destroying the Republic and the nation, and let us put a period to our article.
