Has the last fortress fallen, or is the resistance just beginning?

It is worth saying from the outset that it is too early to answer this.

The coming days are pregnant with extremely critical developments.

In fact, the arrival of Thursday was evident from Wednesday. For those who follow politics in Turkey from a somewhat rational perspective, the "absolute nullity" decision came as no surprise at all.

One does not need to have drunk from a soothsayer's cup to predict that things would escalate to this point.

Those who know Tayyip Erdoğan even a little already knew that he would somehow put an end to the CHP, which he sees as the biggest obstacle in front of him, in order to sit in that seat until his final hour comes.

And he did it...

Let's rewind the tape a bit.

The successive operations, investigations, and arrests targeting CHP-run municipalities; the endless debates on news channels, the fabrication of suspicion by trolls on social media, criminalizing broadcasts, and the constantly pumped narrative of "dirty relationships"; all of these were not just part of daily politics. They were also psychological operations preparing the public mind for a major fracture.

They were, in a sense, political softening shots.

Then came the golden blow, the "absolute nullity" decision.

We can say that there is not even a crumb of democracy or the rule of law left in Turkey.

And farewell to the spirit of conventional politics...

Not just these; the police raiding the CHP Headquarters like an occupying force... All of these have gone down in Turkey's political history as a black mark.

There has not been a classic government-opposition struggle in the country for a long time. The issue is not winning or losing an election. The issue is that a political mind holding state power has decided to plant dynamite at the foundations of the country to maintain its power indefinitely.

Let's put on our reading glasses.

Tayyip Erdoğan acted with extremely carefully calculated timing.

First, he extended the holiday to nine days so that the people of our country would travel here and there for the holiday.

Then it was time to hear the phrase "continue, I am behind you." He spoke with Trump and received the "legitimacy" he wanted.

It didn't end there...

Afterward, he thanked Tayyip Erdoğan from his Truth Social account.

We didn't need to think about where this came from, because he continued by writing, in quotation marks, "Trump is the leader the world has been waiting for for centuries. He is power itself."

In other words, he implied that the praise directed at him belonged to Tayyip Erdoğan.

That is why he had thanked him at the beginning of his sentence.

Of course, this post was removed after the message reached its destination.

We could have guessed that them singing such songs to each other was not a good sign for the country. We didn't wonder why my uncle kissed me for no reason, we said, "it is coming, that which is coming."

And it came...

He pressed the button one day before the holiday began.

While people were hitting the roads in the rush of the holiday, legitimacy was being harvested from Trump, and a DEM delegation had gone to visit the terrorist leader, the pot boiled over. The intervention plan against the CHP was put into action.

While we are at it, let's ask: if Trump had not given the green light...

Could Tayyip Erdoğan have acted so recklessly; could the court have given an absolute nullity decision, could the police have entered the CHP building like an occupying force, could they have turned everything upside down with plastic bullets and gas bombs?

Of course not...

We know very well who the political Islamists in Turkey lean on.

And what about the government's substitute player, Kılıçdaroğlu?

Let's not prolong the matter.

He did what suited him.

No one should be surprised that he has been working tooth and nail to keep Tayyip Erdoğan in power. We are talking about someone who has lost 13 elections and stubbornly wants to remain at the head of the CHP. The anger forming at the base is not just political resentment, but also a feeling of "being betrayed."

The most striking aspect of the operation was not just the police footage. The truly critical point was the Kılıçdaroğlu calculation carried out through the possibility of the CHP being torn apart from within.

Let's sit straight and talk straight.

After taking the helm of the CHP in 2010, with the first election he lost, or let's not say that, but after the second, the party members and delegates should have definitely done what was necessary. They stubbornly and persistently protected and shielded Kılıçdaroğlu. No one stood up and held him accountable like a man. They labeled anyone who raised their voice a "supporter of Alevis."

When Kılıçdaroğlu was removing every Atatürkist and Republican from the party, who spoke up?

If you don't take a stand as you should have that day, today you find a Kılıçdaroğlu who has seized the CHP by collaborating with the government.

Let's continue.

From now on, it will be Özgür Özel's turn.

That is very clear now.

The people of our country are aware of the government's desire to push Özgür Özel out of politics, and even to create a new climate of fear in the country by arresting him if possible. The atmosphere in Ankara supports this as well.

The wave of arrests may not be limited to Özgür Özel.

However, let us not ignore the possibility that this calculation the government made at home will not match the market.

It is important that Özgür Özel, instead of appearing to surrender, has decided to take his party back to where it was born; to the Parliament, and to carry out the struggle from there. Provided that he doesn't somehow reconcile with Kılıçdaroğlu and the government and turn back! Let us make a note of this now, saying we are not ignoring this possibility!

His move carries not only a political but also a symbolic meaning. Because the Parliament is the last remaining institutional ground for national will in Turkey.

Therefore, the intervention by the government may paradoxically cause the CHP to remember its ideological backbone. We hope that the CHP will also start to use the language of national struggle—not in words, but in essence—which it has left aside for years.

And what about the other opposition parties...

While the rope of democracy is being pulled in Turkey, why are the others not standing by Özgür Özel?

Do they really not see that their turn could come next?

We know very well that what is happening today is not just the CHP's issue.

Let us emphasize it once again.

This is Turkey's issue!

Those looking from the palace in Beştepe might be enjoying themselves, saying "we have brought down the last fortress." But have they calculated that the resistance from now on could rise not only inside the fortress, but also on the streets, in the squares, and in the conscience of the people of our country?

Özgür Özel has a historical responsibility on his shoulders. We do not know how aware he is of this, but that line of resistance will determine the fate of not just one party, but of Turkey.

Let's leave aside all the grave mistakes he made after sitting in the General Chairmanship seat for now. They are no longer the issue of today; we will certainly use our right to criticize when the time comes, but let us end our article by saying that now is the time for the people of our country to stand strongly behind Özgür Özel.
