He thinks the CHP is his father's farm

Özgür Özel is doing everything in his power to turn the CHP's historic victory on March 31 into a defeat.

He is rapidly squandering the credit the people of this country gave him after the party congress where he defeated Kılıçdaroğlu.

However, he is not really aware of this.

He must see himself at the top of Mount Kaf.

He is practically living in a fantasy world.

While ignoring the sensitivities, anxieties, and even the reactions of the voters, we are witnessing him becoming increasingly detached from reality every day.

Supposedly, the voters support his "normalization" policy.

Either he never goes outside, or the sycophants around him are filling his head with false information.

If he were to walk the streets, he would see that the people of this country, especially those who voted for the CHP on March 31, are absolutely seething with anger.

Clearly, it does not suit his agenda.

We do not know which research he based this conclusion on, but all recent polls show that CHP votes are rapidly melting away.

For example, PİAR's October 2024 research contradicts Özgür Özel.

They asked those who voted for the CHP on March 31, "Do you support the normalization policy?" 65.9 percent of the participants answered "no."

The rate of those who support it remained at 27.5 percent.

The rate of those who find his performance as Chairman "successful" is only 12.5 percent, while the rate of those who say "unsuccessful" is 63.4 percent.

So, what do the voters who cast their ballots for the CHP think about Özgür Özel standing up to welcome Tayyip in Parliament?

Only one out of every 10 people who participated in the survey expressed a "positive" opinion. Three-quarters viewed it "negatively."

Research asking "Who would you vote for if an election were held tomorrow" also indicates that the CHP has fallen to second place.

In fact, it appears that after the undecided voters are distributed, the AKP has moved four points ahead.

Even though the circumstances are manifesting in a very unfavorable way for him, he lashed out and ranted at those who criticized him for standing at attention before Tayyip, his efforts to cozy up to the government, and finally, for standing up to welcome him when he arrived at Parliament.

As if he were not the same person who said they would not stand up at the swearing-in ceremony in Parliament after Tayyip was elected President in 2018, saying, "It is against the separation of powers for the judiciary and the legislature to stand up before the executive. We will not stand up before a party chairman who has lost his impartiality as president," he came out again yesterday and made a ridiculous statement as if mocking the intelligence of the people of this country:

"We stood up out of respect for the office of the Presidency and the voters who elected him, not for Mr. Erdoğan personally. I have not the slightest regret about this."

With these sentences, he made a mess of things, and then he did not neglect to put the icing on the cake by saying, "If we are losing, I am the one losing. I will pay the price, I will pay the bill."

No matter which part of these statements we hold onto, they fall apart.

It is hard to believe, but he thinks the founding party of the republic is his father's farm.

If the CHP suffers a defeat in the next election, it will not be just him who loses; besides, it is debatable how much he will actually lose!

Even if he leaves his seat after the election, he will enter Parliament again anyway because he will write his own name at the top of the parliamentary candidate list beforehand, and he will continue to receive his lucrative MP salary.

In other words, he will more or less maintain his current comfort.

Let's say he sidelines İmamoğlu and Yavaş and becomes the presidential candidate and loses. Even then, at worst, he will return to Manisa to enjoy the wealth he accumulated in Ankara during his time as an MP, put on his white shirt, and continue selling aspirin in his pharmacy.

It will be us who suffer the consequences again.

Let us write it clearly. In such a situation, the one who will truly lose is Turkey, our tens of millions of people who are struggling with hunger and poverty due to the current government and are worried about how to feed themselves.

In other words, not Özgür Özel.

Let us underline this with a thick pen.

If the current mentality wins the next election as well, one does not need to be a prophet to see that there will be no country left as we know it.

Turkey will become a country in the darkness of the Middle Ages, where ignorance has seeped into its very marrow and bones, where women and children are ruthlessly slaughtered, and which is mercilessly exploited by an Islamist oligarchy.

Before concluding the article, let us also point out Özgür Özel's cunning. Because behind his acting so recklessly today lies the success he achieved through this cunning.

If he had said before the congress that he would stand at attention before Tayyip when he became Chairman, or if he had campaigned during the local election process with the implication that he would cozy up to the government if the CHP emerged as the first party, would he have been successful?

The voters voted for him because they thought he would fight the government properly.

You know, he had supposedly given Hulusi Akar a piece of his mind in Parliament; the people of this country went and stamped the ballot for the CHP with the thought, "If he does this to Hulusi, he will also give the government a piece of his mind."

But the result is obvious.

Let us put a period to our article by saying that no matter what Özgür Özel and the sycophants in his close circle do now, they will go down in the history books as the most incompetent politicians to ever lead the CHP.
