According to the Turkish Language Association dictionary, it is an expression used when faced with surprising or curious phenomena!

When I learned that Turkey's Nicosia Ambassador Yasin Ekrem Serim had been removed from his post, I involuntarily said, "I hope it's for the best."

Because he had only been in office for six months.

He wasn't just an ordinary diplomat, either.

Because he had the wind of the political Islamists at his back, they deemed him worthy of the title of "Ambassador" despite his young age.

They didn't stop there; they made him Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Moreover, his father, Maksut Serim, was a friend of Tayyip Erdoğan from his time as Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.

He was among the names he valued most.

During his premiership, he had served as the Head of the Secret Fund for 12 years. After he was elected President, he continued this duty and then became his advisor.

In other words, Tayyip Erdoğan trusted Maksut Serim enough to entrust him with his safe.

With such a background, the question marks surrounding Yasin Ekrem Serim's situation gain importance.

Actually, the news was reflected in the press in Cyprus, but we missed it here because we were blended with a terrifying agenda.

It is said that Ali Murat Başçeri, who served as the Nicosia Ambassador between 2018 and 2022, will be appointed in his place.

While Turkey is going through such critical days, while the government is imprisoning those who oppose it, those who object, and those who speak out, while the people of my country are trying to live hungry and destitute, and while the country is becoming an appetizer at tables where imperialists' dirty bargains are made, where did this Cyprus issue come from?

Is it that important?

Even though it is not at the top of our agenda, Cyprus is an issue of critical importance for Turkey itself.

Let's underline this with a thick pen.

However, this is not directly related to the national cause.

So, what happened that they suddenly called Yasin Ekrem Serim, who had only started his duty on August 15, back to Ankara?

Let's lend an ear to the backstage.

First of all, the rumor mill had started churning when he was appointed as Turkey's Nicosia Ambassador to replace Metin Feyzioğlu.

He had previously been a subject of controversy due to his partnership with casino operator Halil Falyalı, who lost his life as a result of an assassination in the public eye, and to prevent this, he had obtained a ban on all content about him on the internet after the appointment decision.

Furthermore, his and his family's commercial relations in Cyprus were not limited to Halil Falyalı. He had two other companies called HİS Trading and Black Sea Development.

In other words, his appointment to such a position was problematic from the very beginning.

That's why the rumors ran wild. Those who know, know that political gossip, in particular, is the national sport of Turkish Cypriots.

After Yasin Ekrem Serim sat in the ambassador's chair, he began to be bothered by what was being said about him.

He held those around him responsible for this as well.

While his attitudes and behaviors created discomfort both in local authorities and within the embassy, his often acting and speaking in a way that exceeded diplomatic conventions increased the reactions against him.

It is necessary to underline this with a thick pen.

One way or another, the TRNC is an independent country officially recognized by Turkey. In other words, it is very important that the ambassador serving in the capital of that country also complies with diplomatic conventions as if they were serving in the capital of any country!

It is possible to say that they have been extremely sensitive for years because the world insists on not recognizing them.

It is natural for them to expect a minimum of respect and diplomatic courtesy from Turkey's Nicosia Ambassador.

It is clear that Yasin Ekrem Serim has crossed this line too much. When the complaints and grievances about him reached the executive floor of the Foreign Ministry, Hakan Fidan gave the instruction, "Call him, let him return immediately," without batting an eye.

Of course, we assume that he may have consulted the Palace while giving this instruction.

It is not really possible to think otherwise.

So, how did Tayyip Erdoğan approve this?

This is where the rubber meets the road. Is the Palace slowly losing control? Are certain powers gradually passing into Hakan Fidan's hands? How did Tayyip Erdoğan easily discard the son of someone he trusted enough to entrust the key to his safe? Is there a problem in sharing the pie in Cyprus?
