For the past few years, they have been conducting an immoral propaganda campaign through the grapevine.
The claim was that the Treaty of Lausanne had certain secret clauses preventing Turkey from extracting its underground resources; that in 2023, 100 years after its signing, these would expire and become invalid, allowing us to extract our oil, natural gas, and gold, and thus become wealthy.
It may sound like a joke, but a newspaper acting as a hitman for the government actually published these secret clauses!

We don't know if this constitutes forgery or the crime of publicly spreading misleading information to the public!
But what they wanted to say was this: Atatürk and İnönü condemned Turkey to remain poor with the Treaty of Lausanne. If Tayyip stays in power, you will fill your pockets. Don't think twice, go and vote for Tayyip again.
The vast majority of our people, forgetting even that they were forced to live below the poverty line due to the nonsense that "interest is the cause, inflation is the result," chose to believe this lie.
They stamped their seal on Tayyip.
Two months after the election, that is, after the Treaty of Lausanne completed its hundredth year, no one came out to ask or question, "What happened to these secret clauses? We were all going to get rich, weren't we?"
It is worth being honest with ourselves; our people were already prone to believing this lie.
If that weren't the case, when some people were pushing such immoral propaganda at the time, others would have reacted by saying, "My friend, if it was forbidden to extract our underground resources, what about all this coal, copper, and gold mining in the country? Isn't oil already being extracted in Batman?"
But they didn't bother with that; they supported the lies fed by the government as they spread from ear to ear and created an excuse for themselves to vote for Tayyip.
We all saw the result.
Now we are witnessing a similar storm of lies being whipped up, just as a constitutional amendment that would allow Tayyip to run for office again is being discussed.
One of the government's hitmen, a self-proclaimed historian and researcher, recently blurted out on social media, "We signed a secret agreement with England before the Treaty of Lausanne. According to this, the abolition of the caliphate and religious education were the prerequisites of Lausanne."
Even though he may have made such a post to support the absurdities of Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin, who claimed that mosques were sold, turned into stables, and that learning the Quran was banned, it is clear that he is trying to attack Atatürk and İnönü through lies and deceit in his classic Islamist manner, and to consolidate the religious segment through an "alternative history" created in their sick minds against the Enlightenment paradigm of the Republic.
He is clearly saying that Atatürk and İnönü collaborated with the British against Islam and the caliphate.
We can say that this is the launch of a series of lies and slanders they will circulate via the grapevine, and at the same time, a signal flare for the framework of the propaganda they will conduct in the run-up to the elections and during the constitutional amendment negotiations.
In their own way, they are trying to lay the groundwork for changing the Constitution in Turkey and establishing a de facto caliphate under Tayyip's authority, even if not officially.
They think they will provide legitimacy for this with the fake documents they have put forward!
In short, they will talk about religion, faith, God, and the book again, and as always, they will position the CHP against this.
Will the people of our country who believe there are secret clauses in Lausanne believe that Atatürk and İnönü made a secret agreement with England?
They probably will.
If some people had the audacity to ask for votes with the propaganda that "İsmet İnönü is a draft dodger" in the past, the representatives of the same mentality can just as easily tell the lie that "Atatürk made a secret agreement with the British."
This is where the rubber meets the road...
Because the government knows very well that there is no strategic mind in the CHP that can disrupt this game.
Tayyip plays with Özgür Özel like a cat plays with its tail. He beats him when he wants, and he loves him when he wants.
He is aware that no matter what he does, when he snaps his fingers, he will find him standing at attention before him.
Let us conclude our article by saying that if the tide turns one day, social psychologists as well as political scientists will have to work to explain this anomalous period that Turkey is going through.
