They have demanded it 'with determination'!

He said; we are here until the inevitable end comes...

We already knew that he wanted to be "here" until the inevitable end comes.

It is no surprise.

When the DEM Party intended to play openly, Tayyip Erdoğan, who had preferred to speak cautiously until just yesterday, spilled the beans.

He knows he does not have much time left politically.

He also knows he does not have the public support he once had.

If he does not hurry, it is only a matter of time before the cup overflows.

He should be thankful that Özgür Özel is constantly holding rallies here and there, letting off steam for the people of our country.

But he has no intention of leaving his business to chance.

That is why he has started to accelerate his steps.

The statement, "I have assigned 10 of our legal expert friends and our friends will begin working. Together with this work, hopefully, we will carry out the preparations for a new constitution," must be underlined with a thick pen.

It seems almost certain that the Parliament's "Terror-Free Turkey" commission will also begin working in the new legislative year!

Despite the government's empty rhetoric, the DEM Party is gradually giving flesh and bone to the issue.

Last week, by calling it the Democratic Local Governments Interim Meeting or something similar, they openly told the government where it should start.

After the meeting, they announced a 7-point list of demands.

They demanded that the trustees appointed to all municipalities be withdrawn and the elected officials be reinstated to their duties; that the relevant articles of the Municipalities Law No. 5393, which allow for the appointment of trustees, be amended to end trustee appointments; that the definition of co-chairmanship in the Political Parties Law also be defined in the Municipalities Law; that the administrative and financial tutelage of the central administration over local administrations be abolished; that democratic organization areas such as neighborhood assemblies, city councils, and village communes, where "the public is directly involved in decision-making processes, going beyond representative democracy," be legally guaranteed; and that the legal articles in the laws on municipalities and provincial special administrations that restrict the authority of these institutions be reviewed and regulated within the framework of the principle of local democracy.

All of these demands focus more or less on the same point, but the 7th item on the list deserves special attention.

The DEM Party threw the ball into the other court with the statement, "We firmly demand the removal of the reservations Turkey has placed on the European Charter of Local Self-Government."

Of course, it is no coincidence that Tayyip Erdoğan recently pointed to the need for regulations regarding local administrations.

It is clear that a ground is being prepared suitable for the Neo-Hamidian regime's drift toward an Islamist-Kurdish federation!

The DEM Party specifically wants the reservations in this charter to be removed so that they can act as freely as they please.

This is of critical importance to them...

If Turkey removes its reservations, fulfills the requirements of the charter, and changes its legislation accordingly...

Let us list what could happen:

Most importantly, under today's circumstances and conditions, Turkey's unitary structure would effectively cease to exist.

Municipalities in the hands of the DEM Party would begin to use their independent decision-making powers and gain the strength to openly challenge the central administration.

Ankara's control mechanisms would largely remain on paper.

They could access financial resources directly; this would create a strong source of funding for Kurdish/separatist politics.

DEM-affiliated municipalities could establish direct relations with international organizations. Turkey's sovereignty would be opened to debate.

The issue has nothing to do with democracy, human rights, or the rule of law. The whole issue is the satisfaction of the Kurds, who have been spoiled by the winds of identity politics coming from across the Atlantic since 2002 and have filled their sails with it...

Anything else is just empty talk!

For the DEM Party, Turkey removing its reservations would be a huge opportunity. It would only take a Presidential decree, just like with the Istanbul Convention.

There is no one left to cause an uproar. That is why they must think it can be handled as easily as taking a hair out of butter.

As long as Tayyip Erdoğan says "okay."

They are aware of this, which is why they have demanded it "with determination."
