The cancellation of Ekrem İmamoğlu's diploma and his subsequent arrest have shaken Turkey to its core.

The situation is in turmoil.

Young people have taken the deep-seated frustration that has been building up in our people for years out into the streets.

Turkey, so to speak, has been on edge for a week.

From the very first day, the question of how the government dared to attempt such a thing crossed everyone's mind.

There were those who said, "Tayyip Erdoğan has committed a suicide dive."

Even the pro-government sycophants and the palace-fed crowd were asking, "Could it be? Are we being lured into a trap?"

Yet, there was no trap, nor was there any suicide dive;

Since Tayyip Erdoğan would not push the button without securing his rear...

Let's rewind the tape a bit!

After Ekrem İmamoğlu was elected Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality for the second time, alarm bells had started ringing at Beştepe.

They immediately sat down to do the math.

They hadn't just lost Istanbul and the municipality's resources; they had realized that if things continued this way, they wouldn't be able to easily stop Ekrem İmamoğlu.

After the CHP's local election victory, Özgür Özel was turning somersaults to curry favor with the Palace, looking into Tayyip Erdoğan's eyes, talking about "softening" and "warming up," but he lacked the charisma, capacity, and skill to fully fortify the opposition front.

It was as clear as day that keeping him in that state had no practical benefit.

From the government's perspective, he was a tactical element, not a strategic one!

But the immediate and real threat was Ekrem İmamoğlu.

He had to be removed from the political equation by any means necessary!

But the "conjuncture" was not very suitable at that time.

"Let's wait," he said, "and see the results of the US elections. Who will win, who will lose!" He knew he couldn't carry out such a major operation without the full support of the US.

Similarly, interest rate cuts, a slight drop in inflation; opening the way for jihadists in Syria to topple the Assad regime, and a few publicity-stunt moves to pull the wool over the eyes of our people...

When Trump emerged from the ballot box in November, he breathed a sigh of relief.

Later, upon hearing the statement, "President Erdoğan is my friend, someone I love and respect. I think he respects me too," he probably thought, "It doesn't get better than this."

But still, thinking that "you never know, he's unpredictable, he's crazy enough to do anything," he must have waited to speak on the phone before pushing the button, whatever was on his mind.

And he took action two days after that conversation!

In fact, no one knows exactly what they talked about.

Although the official statement from this side might seem like empty rhetoric at first glance, it contains some important clues.

At the very least, we can understand how the equation was set up.

In short: I will do whatever you want in the region, I will not harm your interests, but in return, you ensure I keep my seat and don't interfere with what I do domestically...

It is very clear that he received this guarantee.

Journalists threw a perfect pass to US State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce, asking, "Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's main rival, İmamoğlu, has been detained in a 'corruption' and 'aiding terrorism' investigation. Are you concerned?"

But Tammy Bruce gave a statement that poured cold water on the hearts of those here, saying, "We can encourage Turkey to respect human rights and address its internal framework appropriately. However, we will not comment on the internal decision-making processes of another country. We only remind them that we expect them to act in a way that respects the rights of all their citizens."

Because, at any other time, both the US State Department and the White House would have spoken out harshly.

In journalist terms, they didn't bomb this time!

Besides, while the pot was boiling in Turkey, he had already sent Hakan Fidan to the US to handle all the details regarding the matter.

As for Europe, he has no regard for them anyway.

He knows that those in Brussels, Berlin, and Paris will shout and scream for three or five days to appease their own public opinion, and then fall silent.

Because he holds the refugee card.

He is aware that the moment he pretends to open the gates, Europe will wave the white flag.

It is unknown how much Özgür Özel and his cronies realize this, but if this matter fizzles out at this point, it's all over.
