He didn't stop there; he even attempted to give instructions to Tayyip Erdoğan, whom he views as someone who “needs me for the constitutional amendment anyway”:

“The fact that some commentators, reporters, and channels use expressions and commentary against the process is not a problem for us to solve. Because when we look at it, the media is in the hands of the government today, and the judiciary is in the hands of the AKP. We are talking about a government that has every power and dominates every area of life. Therefore, it is the government's duty to improve and eliminate all of this. But I must also state that no progress has been made on this matter.”

You might say, “What audacity,” “What insolence,” or “What arrogance,” but the writing was already on the wall.

If he had said anything less, or perhaps something like, “The government should pave the way for people to freely express their sensitivities, anger, and sadness; everyone's reaction should be met with understanding,” we might have been surprised.
