National security, economic power, and foreign policy

Israel is brutally attacking Palestine and Gaza on one hand, and Lebanon and Hezbollah targets on the other. It continues its massacres and barbarism incessantly with the unlimited support it receives from US imperialism and European imperialism. The reactions rising from world public opinion, Turkey, and Iran are not stopping Israel. The situation of the Islamic world and the Arab world is clear; it is evident how ineffective, powerless, and disorganized they are.

At this point, it is essential to reflect deeply and list the necessary steps to possess a strong, effective, respected, and deterrent diplomacy.

For this, we know that political economy is primarily in our toolkit. When thinking about foreign policy, we place history books on our right knee, geography books on our left knee, and take economics books between our two hands.

We are aware that economy, politics, foreign policy, and security are intertwined. This was the case for the Roman Empire, and it is the same for the Ottoman Empire. It has not changed throughout history. There is no foreign policy or national security policy that does not prioritize economic security alongside physical security. Nor can there be.

With the Cold War, the US aimed for the same goals with its current steps and moves as it did with the Truman Doctrine and Marshall Plan, its policy of containing the USSR, and its calculations in providing economic and military aid to Greece and Turkey. It has not changed.

We never forget that the US is an imperialist state. It is expansionist. It is an occupier. It is colonialist. A vast majority of the political elite in the US view the security of the US as the security of the world. They treat the two as one and equal. They also believe that the US is a chosen, privileged, and superior state not only in political and military terms but also in a divine, religious sense for the security of the world. The US national security concept is built upon physical security, economic security, and the promotion of values, which is a complete imperial concept.

Among the foundations of national security, the national economy holds a very important, dominant, and decisive position. For a national economy, one must be strong in production, investment, employment, exports, science, and technology. Alongside these, and to ensure them, it is mandatory to control the entry and exit of capital, goods, services, and labor. A state that cannot control its borders, customs, and the inflow of foreign currency into the country cannot speak of a national economy. The economy of a state that does not ask the source of money coming from abroad, just so that foreign currency enters the country, cannot be national, secure, or healthy.

Fragility in the economy creates fragility in foreign policy and national security as well. Just as there can be no political independence without economic independence, it is inevitable that he who takes the money will sooner or later take orders. Being strong politically depends on possessing a powerful economic and military strength.
