A strong defense so that rights are not violated

Before a flight, they warn you: Put the mask on yourself first, then on your child!

Yet, our children are our most precious.

For a lawyer, the most precious value is undoubtedly justice, and so it should be. 

However, in a system where the lawyer is absent, weakened, or unable to stand, there is neither justice, nor rights, nor law. The law turns into a mere ideal. Or it becomes a mockery. 

Lawyers are struggling to survive today. 

The public, caught in an economic bottleneck, is the first to abandon the struggle to seek rights through legal channels. This is an inevitable result of such long-lasting trials. The loss of value of money and compensation that remains as small as a bird. Penalties that are never applied or are applied completely incorrectly have diminished faith in the law and justice. 

The public is abandoning the struggle to seek rights because, as if the length of trials, the weight of costs, and the fact that the outcome is worth nothing were not enough, trust in the justice mechanism has also decreased. 

In a country where even the decisions of the Constitutional Court are not implemented, who would trust justice, and why...

As if this were not enough, there are extra-legal tools brought about by the informal economy. Since justice and law have turned into a bigger gamble than a roulette table, wouldn't it seem more reasonable to some to go directly to brute force, to the mafia? 

As if this were not enough, lawyers are being beaten, attacked, and their fees are not being paid. How can a lawyer resist all of this? 

How can a lawyer survive when the earnings they obtain from mandatory defense are sacrificed to taxes, travel, and office expenses? 

With brokers, middlemen, "contracted" institutions, and fixers eyeing their profession, whom can a lawyer defend, and how? 

Justice and law are like air. You realize their value when your breath is cut off. You must realize their value now. If you haven't realized it until today, you must realize it today. Because lawyers can no longer breathe. 

This time, we are in the squares for lawyers. Under the leadership of the Union of Turkish Bar Associations, we will be at the "GREAT DEFENSE RALLY" on Saturday, April 27, 2024. 

To defend professional honor and labor against violence and drudgery, 

So that lawyers can survive, 

So that lawyers can stay on their feet, 

So that the seat of the defense does not remain empty, 

To be able to give breath to Justice, around which the entire universe revolves, 

We will be at Anıtpark, Çankaya, Ankara on April 27, 2024, between 13.00 and 18.00. 

We will be there with all our colleagues who do not bow down!
