Advice for Hacettepe University Students

On October 27, 2025, a fight broke out at Hacettepe University. Machetes, stones, and clubs were flying through the air. There were injuries, detentions... 

Students attacking with machetes, students handing over power following the election of a new leader, students attacking the ceremony, students resisting the attacks, students helping their friends, students providing first aid... A 21st-century scene at Hacettepe University. 

Some were saving the homeland, others were resisting fascism. They all have tons of stories to tell. I hope the injured recover as soon as possible. 

It has become a duty to offer some advice to my fellow students. Don't do it, friends. Don't waste your energy. Don't break the law. Don't stay committed to your principles, your organizations, or your friends. Chase after tenders. Go to parties. In this day and age, is it up to you to fight and brawl? 

When your leaders are entertaining each other, what is the need to fight? Why are you, the ones at the bottom, clashing while those at the top are kissing and making up? What will you gain? 

It is best to chase after tenders. Become a salesperson. Instead of organizing, plan events. You'll even make money. Instead of joining revolutionary or nationalist organizations, join foreign organizations. Instead of having a comrade or a leader behind you, have imperialist friends. Just hang out, young people. Life is short... 

The path you are on is not the right one. One of you gets murdered by your own ideological peers in the middle of the city. While the other rots in prison, your leader, your comrade, makes a deal with the system. 

Take heed, young people. Abandon your principles. 

Make money, have fun... But don't have principles or an organization. 

Watch TV series, for example. Or reels or short videos... Like cat videos. What is the need to devour each other? 

Direct your energy to the right place. Go abroad, for example. 

In fact, it would be best if you didn't study at all. You aren't studying anyway. Don't work extra jobs for nothing, don't take out loans and get into debt, don't be a burden to your family. There is no hope. Don't hold each other accountable for your hopelessness. The stones, clubs, and machetes in your hands won't save you. Your concepts and slogans won't work either. You need new things, we need new things. If you don't have anything truly new, leave these things alone, young people. Don't rot in vain, don't let your youth rot. 

You are not raised easily. You are spent easily. Don't spend yourselves, don't let yourselves be spent. All that pain you endure is not worth it for a couple of photos. Don't destroy yourselves, don't destroy each other.
