There is a common crime known as open cable theft. Some, falling prey to the devil's temptation, others to cover the cost of drugs, and some to feed their children, cut these cables and sell them to scrap dealers.
The cutting of these cables or the theft of exposed cables can become the subject of investigation and prosecution.
The cables usually belong to electricity distribution companies or electricity service providers.
As such, these companies become involved in these cases.
Beyond the concrete damages incurred, these companies also include power outages resulting from the theft or cutting of the cables in the lawsuit.
One's conscience is wounded. How distressing it is! Perhaps because of this power outage, someone's medical device was damaged or stopped, or someone's health was harmed, or God forbid, someone may have even lost their life.
Once this claim is raised, the matter is immediately referred to an expert witness.
But what about the rights of people who suffer this damage as a result of an "ordinary" power outage? Are there any lawsuits filed on this matter? What kind of compensation do you think is awarded for electrical appliances that break down or services that are disrupted due to planned or unplanned power outages? I do not know. If anyone knows, please enlighten me.
The company that owns the electrical infrastructure and the company that provides the electricity service are different from each other. What a wonderful country!
Those who steal these cables will likely receive punishment, and they are indeed receiving it.
But what about those who do not cut cables, yet fail to provide the service they committed to providing... What will happen to the damages they cause?
Nothing happens, but it should. Life should not be this cheap. Considering the importance of electricity in our age, being left without electricity is worse than being left without water. That is why there must be a consequence for this negligence and lack of precaution.
The amount of your non-pecuniary damages is determined by the measure of your spirituality and the value of your life. The amount of non-pecuniary damages reveals the worthlessness of our lives.
Perhaps our power is only enough to deal with cable thieves.
