Medusa's Raft and 'THEY'

Yesterday was May 9th. That means the victory was won 80 years ago. Humanity stopped the armies of darkness 80 years ago. 80 years ago, humanity—comprising the wealthy, the laborer, the prisoner, the murderer, and the oppressed, all forced onto the same ship—awoke from the nightmare of fascism.

When great storms break, people look for a harbor to take shelter in, a captain who appears reliable. Sometimes, this captain is an unconventional character, fitting for extraordinary times. Let us recall from the Old Testament: the Jewish sages, instead of seeking a wise, sober leader against Goliath (Celut), look for a brash, bold, and daring leader. That leader is found: David. David defeats Goliath.

The highly cultured, productive, "intelligent" German elite panicked in the face of the crisis that tore post-World War I Germany to pieces and caused its collapse. Moreover, the danger of losing their "elitism" was at the door. A light had risen from the East. The Communists were about to take over Germany. The sought-after blood was found. Nazism rose rapidly. The elites had played with fire. Ultimately, with the Soviet Armies entering Berlin on May 9, 1945, Nazism surrendered completely. The "brash" captain of the elites, who had forced everyone onto the same ship, put a bullet in his head inside the hole he had crawled into.

Our friends had invited us to watch the documentary Medusa's Raft, which they had meticulously prepared and which is watched by millions. On May 9, 2025, we friends who do not swallow the lie that "we are all in the same boat" gathered at the Kült Sahnesi in Ankara. We met at the premiere of the 7th and final episode of the 1st season of Medusa's Raft. The lights went out, and we watched the final episode.

Gökhan Kazbek, Editor-in-Chief of SoL TV and a member of the documentary team, gave a short speech. In his speech, he described the preparation process of the documentary, the difficulties of this process, and the technical challenges. He said that we would have to wait until 2026 for the new season.

The documentary team, which delves into the past by entering archive rooms, enabled us to comprehend the years we all lived through, this time away from the "hustle and bustle" of the daily agenda, in a tidy manner and through a single theme. Medusa's Raft reveals that "we are not all in the same boat" and exposes the insane methods that the bosses, who say this lie morning and night, ultimately resort to when a storm breaks.

Let us state the situation more clearly once again. The bosses always present the breaking of the storm to us as an economic bottleneck, or national or international terrorism. Of course, these are all storms. But we are missing something. These are not the storms in the eyes of the bosses. The storm for the bosses is the "crazy solution" of the people who encounter these difficulties. The real storm is the power of the laborers who realize they are not on the same ship. When that storm breaks,

"Israfil blows his Trumpet and the creatures stand in their places

The pulse of the earth begins to beat in [Their] pulses" and "They press their heavy hands to the ground and rise up"

This is the true apocalypse. For the bosses, the storm is "Them."
