There is an implicit contract between the ''young'' generations and past generations: ''Young people will go to school, follow the rules, pass exams, get into university, stay out of trouble, and get appointed or hired somewhere to lead a middle-class life, perhaps even become wealthy''. The system has unilaterally terminated this contract. And without notice. And unfairly. Without any warning.
Emrah Safa Gürkan explains this situation very well:

Younger generations finished high school. The system graduated them.
Younger generations ''won'' university. They settled into dorms, took out student loans on the condition of paying them back. Some rented apartments. They made the old middle class rich.
Younger generations graduated from university. They waited to get hired. There are no jobs. Those who find work spend what they earn on rent, bills, and loan debt.
Younger generations have been deceived. We have deceived each other as a nation. Is it just our nation? This is a global deception.
Many schools and universities were opened. But the production system collapsed. The rate of university growth did not keep pace with the rate of factory growth. The system, a genius at creating rent, collapsed on the production side. Now Germany, Japan, and France are in decline. Would Turkey stay behind? It is collapsing too. Financial capital has strangled production capital.
These days said they were coming. We stayed silent. Everything looked beautiful. Neon lights, cafes, restaurants, cheap plane tickets, etc., everywhere.
The contract is being torn up. Western academia is cutting scholarships. Doors are being closed to professors who do not generate funding for the academy.
The era of prosperity and democracy between 1945-2000 has come to an end. We had previously seen the ''new middle ages'' at the end of this era. Roberto Vacca announced it in 1971 with his book The Coming Dark Age. Meanwhile, a ''Dark Enlightenment'' is being discussed in deep corridors. A future without people, without mercy, and of course, without democracy is being discussed.
We were going to work and get what we were owed. The system's promise or lie has collapsed. The system's opponents also had promises: We are right, we will win! Our righteousness did not yield results either. Because both grand narratives and justice have collapsed. No longer the welfare state and democracy, nor the socialist narrative filled with great hopes. Youth, younger generations, those approaching their 50s... In disappointment...
The contract signed with those who made various promises has been terminated. Now it is time to kill time. We are in the phase of complaining, whining, and lamenting. We spend time on digital platforms to soothe our pain. If only our pain would subside! We will find new promises to believe in. But for now, politics is very busy. There is nothing for us!
