Only brave women can set this country straight

İsmet İnönü has a saying that means, "The events that fit into a human life are quite astonishing," and I think it is very apt, just like his quote, "The honest must be as brave as the dishonest."

As people age, they see more clearly just how many astonishing events can fit into a life.

For instance, friends who were once as close as can be can become estranged.

Those who were inseparable can, over time, become enemies.

Or, conversely, as we see so often in politics, those who today say unspeakable things to their opponents can, as if they never uttered those words themselves, become partners with the very people they insulted, sitting side by side.

The most beautiful lines on this subject were written by the poet Nazım Hikmet, as you know; he says in his poem:

"And the book ended like this...

He was no longer the person she first saw, knew, trusted, and loved...

The one who loved had been mistaken, the one loved had become a stranger..."

Anyway, let's get to our topic.

The former leader of the İYİ Party, Meral Akşener, angered everyone and withdrew from the political stage, but now we understand that if what Meral Hanım said had happened, and Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu had not been the candidate, but instead Mansur Yavaş or Ekrem İmamoğlu had been nominated, perhaps one of them would be President now. Looking at it this way, if Meral Hanım overturned the table and left because her proposal was not accepted, her justification is proven; and if Meral Hanım was right, and she also accepted leaving her seat of her own volition because this was not done, then kudos to her...

Perhaps for the first time, Turkey saw a politician who voluntarily left their seat because their wishes were not met, and that person was a woman.

There are brave women in Turkey, and those brave women do not give up easily.

For example, Ayşe Ateş, the wife of Sinan Ateş, who was murdered in the heart of Ankara.

The young mother of two is bravely challenging those who had her husband killed and is struggling tirelessly to ensure the murderers are caught.

For example, Emine Şenyaşar; this mother, whose husband and son were massacred by the relatives of an AKP deputy, has not given up for years and is fighting for the murderers to receive the punishment they deserve.

For example, Nihal Olçok; while everyone else is silent, she is always bravely on the front lines to shed light on the murder of her son and husband.

As for the Saturday Mothers, whose loved ones were murdered, they were in the square again just last week for the 1,000th week of their resistance; despite weeks of bans, police beatings, detentions, and resistance, they did not give up.

Just like Rosa Parks, who ended racial segregation in America by sitting in a forbidden seat on a bus.

Turkey is in great need of women who do not give up and who continue the struggle.

If this country is ever to become a prosperous nation, if it is to be saved from the economic, social, and political troubles it is experiencing, it can do so under the leadership of women.

Unfortunately, men who are only interested in doing all sorts of clownish acts just to ride in black cars with flashing lights, and who are eager to bow before everyone, cannot do better than this.

And the point we have reached is clear: we are champions in inflation, unemployment, corruption, bribery, nepotism, fraud, and unhappiness, and we are at the bottom in democracy, virtue, and quality education.
