A World Forest Protection Organization must be established

The silent cry of the forests: Forests are the homeland, forests are life, forests are humanity, forests are water, forests are happiness, and forests are everything. For years in our country, everything related to humanity and nature has been plundered, burned, and destroyed, and it is never replaced. After a while, the sites of burned or destroyed forests are handed over to local collaborators or international capital to be filled with hotels or other structures. 

Developed capitalist countries: Despite constantly talking about factors like human rights and the environment, the fact that a World Forest Protection Organization has not been established yet is pure insincerity. 

As the forests of underdeveloped and developing countries diminish, we will become more dependent on capitalist countries, and they will exploit us even more. This is a clear indicator of hypocrisy regarding human rights, nature, the environment, and the exploitation of labor. 

Just as they oppose the informal economy and the crime economy while never hesitating to create tax havens. Underdeveloped and developing countries are insincere regarding labor exploitation and corruption. The corruption and informal economy they supposedly oppose are ignored when their own interests are at stake, and the futures of oppressed peoples can be stolen. While this is being done, they demand credit ratings when granting loans. Their only manifesto is exploitation and money; as long as there is colonialism and money, they do not take factors like humanity, justice, and the environment into account. If the issue were truly nature for developed capitalist countries, there would be no question of providing social aid and loans to countries that massacre their forests.

It must not be forgotten that forests are both global and public goods. Forest protection is a fundamental human rights duty for all the people of the world. June is coming again; it is hard to die in June. Our forests will be burned. While the forest fires in our country have reached dimensions that are the subject of international reports, whoever cuts down a tree or burns a forest in my country deserves to be condemned.

According to data from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the world's forests, which cover 4.06 billion hectares, account for 31% of the land area. According to this data, forests are distributed equally in terms of the world population and geographical area, and the forest area per capita in the world is 0.52 hectares. World forests have decreased by a net 178 million hectares in the 30-year period between 1990 and 2020. This is equal to the surface area of Libya. According to 2021 data, the forest area in our country is 22.1 million hectares. Of this, 21.5 million hectares were formed naturally, and the amount of forest area formed through afforestation is 717 thousand hectares.

To easily understand how the country's forests are being destroyed: as a result of 2/B applications, 620 thousand hectares of forest land have been removed from forest status. The forest area per capita in our country has generally decreased from 2002 to 2023. This situation shows that the population growth rate is higher than the forest growth rate. The main reason for the decrease is the occupiers. The amount of forest per capita in our country is below the world average. The forest area per capita, which was 0.00031 square meters in 2002, has decreased over time. It fell to 0.00026 in 2022 and remained below the world average.

Forestry policies in Turkey can be affected by many factors such as population growth policies, population growth, land use changes, and environmental impacts. For example, projects and policies that encourage the protection of forestry will be effective in increasing the forest area per capita. A Ministry of Forestry must be established very urgently. It is possible to implement policies where not even a single tree is cut and that never cause forest fires. If it cannot be done, we are ready to take this on in the best way possible.
