Imperialist countries cannot be trusted: Lessons from the Middle East

The pages of history are filled with the chaos created by imperialist countries in other nations for the sake of their own interests. Imperialist powers, acting under the guise of democracy and the rule of law, have in fact never hesitated to divide and fragment the peoples of the region to maximize their own interests. Imperialist countries do not hesitate to deploy terrorism and regional powers against regimes that threaten their interests. At the same time, the capital-oriented policies of these countries weaken national sovereignty and make nations dependent on foreign powers. Capital-based governments are fragile enough to be eliminated overnight through international pressure and manipulation.

This situation once again highlights the importance of independence and national sovereignty. It is essential for countries to be resilient against the traps of imperialist powers and to develop policies that prioritize the welfare of their own people. It is impossible to build a future by trusting imperialists; for history has proven time and again that they always prioritize their own interests.

Syria and similar examples serve as a lesson for societies living in the Middle East. The right to self-determination is too valuable to be left in the hands of other countries. Being vigilant against false promises presented under the mask of imperialism is the most important step in a nation's struggle for existence.

The international political arena is a complex playing field woven with vested interests. In this game, the deep chasm between the rhetoric and actions of imperialist countries constitutes one of the greatest dangers. Emerging on the scene with cries of "we will bring democracy and law," these countries do not hesitate to create instability across the world, placing their own interests at the center. What has happened in Syria is a cautionary tale for understanding the ruthless face of imperialism. The interventions launched under the pretext of ensuring peace and stability in the country quickly turned Syria into an arena of civil war. Western powers attempted to dismantle the country by using terrorist organizations as subcontractors to hide their own direct interventions. The result? A destroyed state structure, millions of displaced people, endless suffering, and chaos.

The real purpose of such initiatives is not to increase the welfare of the region's peoples or expand their freedoms, but on the contrary, to take control of the region's wealth and ensure geopolitical dominance. What has befallen Syria shows how not only this country, but also governments that rely on international capital, can be targeted overnight.

Imperialist powers resort to various methods to weaken or overthrow administrations that do not serve their interests. These methods include economic sanctions, political pressure, and, when necessary, intermediaries such as terrorist organizations. However, in this process, it is always the people who pay the highest price. These stories, which begin with the promise of "democracy," usually end with even more authoritarian regimes, destroyed infrastructure, and lost futures. At this point, what is important is to be able to take steps to protect national sovereignty without falling for the rhetoric of imperialist countries. Independence is a country's greatest asset in its struggle for existence, and policies dependent on foreign powers create damage that is difficult to compensate for in the long run.

History has shown time and again that trusting imperialist countries is no different from building a sandcastle. As long as peoples do not learn to hold their own destinies in their hands, they will continue to be extras in this game. It should not be forgotten that freedom is only possible by refusing to bow to the interest-driven games of others.
