Who does the economy favor?

The purpose of an economic system is to produce the goods people want and to provide the services they require. Furthermore, it is to ensure they can easily access these goods and services and obtain what they want in a manner befitting human dignity. In fact, the best economic system is one that provides people with as much of what they want most as possible. There are structures that govern the efforts of the state and individuals. These structures influence and sometimes manage the economic system in line with their own interests by dominating the efforts of the state and individuals. To some extent, the economic system serves the individual; however, as we see now, it also serves the needs of its own organizations to a certain extent.

The task of the economy is to produce goods and prevent depressions and crises. However, we have seen that by forcing all problems into a market framework and subjecting all behaviors to the dictates of the market, it has become clear that economists have also been serving the crisis. We have seen in our country that as the economy has developed, power has shifted from the consumer to the producer. As a result, the market has become determined not by the consumer, but by the producer. As long as market power is distributed unequally, development and income distribution will also be unequal.

If we want to make our country more livable, we must entrust the economy not to the mercy of the market, but to the oversight and production of the state. Otherwise, to keep our country in a livable state, we may have to settle for less food, fewer services, less electricity, and lower wages.

In our country, the economy heats up immediately at the slightest social or societal development or turmoil. When the economy heats up and the political structure fuels this, all the economic sacrifices made by wage earners, retirees, and the poor for our state melt away in an instant. We return to the point where we started and begin paying the price all over again. The economy heats up; inflation rises, foreign exchange rates rise, interest rates rise, unemployment rises, poverty rises, and debt rises. In the final analysis, we become poorer.

As can be seen, in the slightest crisis, the economy is not on the side of the people; it is on the side of pressure, interest groups, and the powerful. In political and economic crises, all kinds of costs increase. As costs increase, prices rise, and consequently, consumption, production, and employment fall in a chain reaction. In other words, every intervention made harms wage earners, retirees, and the poor.

As seen, the economy is not on the side of the people during the slightest crisis. The purpose of knowing and learning economics is not to learn a set of ready-made remedies for economic problems, but to learn and know how to prevent economists from misleading and deceiving us.

When economic conditions are left to their own devices, they produce the best results for the powerful.
