The danger on your wrist: Your watch

A tragic incident occurred last Wednesday in the luxury district of Knightsbridge in London. 

24-year-old Blue Stevens lost his life after being stabbed in the chest by a masked assailant while trying to protect the gold Rolex watch on his wrist.

Selling a watch requires as much skill as manufacturing one. Producing world-famous brand watches, which consist of at least 212 parts, takes a watchmaker months. 

Owning these handcrafted watches is not that easy either. You may have to wait for months, perhaps even years. 

Naturally, the prices of these handcrafted watches you wait years for are very high.

Those who wear watches from the world's most renowned brands such as Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Rolex, Vacheron Constantin, Omega, Cartier, and Chopard must be careful. 

Whether they are ministers, members of parliament, business people, or artists, they put in great effort to wear these watches on their wrists. 

The money in your pocket is often insufficient to buy these watches, and sometimes it can take years of your life. 

You must protect these watches, which you have put so much effort into acquiring, just as much as you use them.

These watches, purchased from boutiques, are sold on the grey market for 2-3 times their price. This is also how you learn just how valuable a watch is. 

I also own a few of these watches. When I wear them on my wrist, I guard them like the apple of my eye.

This year, I traveled to many places in Europe, America, and the Middle East.

The thing I pay the most attention to during these trips is not to travel with my watches.

I lock the watches I worked so hard to buy in my safe before I travel.

During my travels, I use the clock on my phone.

If you absolutely must wear a watch, you can buy an Apple Watch and wear that.

In our country, the prices of these watches are not as widely known as they are abroad.

However, abroad, taxi and Uber drivers, waiters in luxury restaurants, and hotel reception staff are quite knowledgeable about these watches. 

If you are traveling abroad and wearing one of the brands I mentioned above, pay attention to what I am about to write.

When you use a taxi or Uber, if your driver says, "What a beautiful watch you have," get out of that vehicle immediately. When the vehicle takes you to your destination, you might encounter a surprise and lose that beautiful watch of yours. 

While you are dining in a luxury restaurant with your priceless watch, it will only take a few seconds for your waiter to notice your watch and report it to the people they work with outside. 

You are also in danger if the malicious staff at the hotel where you are staying notice the value of your watch. Especially in some countries, it is very easy for your watch to be taken off your wrist after you leave the hotel.

Following a 60 percent increase in watch robberies in England, the London Metropolitan Police has taken a series of precautions. England has increased its measures in this regard and has begun warning those who wear luxury watches.

The London Metropolitan Police is issuing warnings on billboards in London, writing, "Watch theft is occurring; do not wear a watch unless necessary, or hide your watch."

The London Metropolitan Police have also hung banners on their vehicles that read: "Wear your watch carefully. Hide your watch. If you are threatened, give up your watch. Do not wear a watch if you don't need to. Be careful about which watch you wear. Keep your eyes peeled, don't let your guard down." 

I am also warning you here, those who wear luxury watches. Take care of the watch you bought under such difficult conditions. 

Do not travel with your luxury watch unless necessary.
