Our tiny pink-footed babies

The most irresistible part of a baby is its tiny, pink feet. When you reach out and see those small hands gripping your finger, and those eyes looking at you with angelic innocence, a bridge of love is built between you. The killing or molestation of babies, whom you cannot even bear to touch, evokes an indescribable feeling of anger and hatred within you.

We have been trying to live with this feeling for days…

Being a child in Turkey has become synonymous with being devoid of life security.

In recent years, devastating events have continued to follow one another.

New massacre scenarios are being added to the babies who have been torn from life through harassment and rape.

• Narin's killers have still not been announced.

• A 9-month-old baby was raped in Islahiye, Gaziantep.

• This was followed by 2-year-old Nisanur, who was raped and died in Çaycuma, Zonguldak in 2023, and

• 2-year-old beautiful baby Sıla, who died as a result of rape and battery by 4 people in Tekirdağ.

Nisanur's 8-year-old sister was also forced into prostitution.

• The fact that the founder of the Hiranur Foundation, affiliated with the İsmailağa Community, married off his own daughter when she was 6 years old also caused a great reaction in society.

These are just a few of the known cases. We have started living in a country where not only children but also babies are under the threat of perverts and murderers.

However, health institutions and physicians were undoubtedly among the environments we considered the most secure for our children and babies.

• In 2023, Prof. Dr. Süleyman Salih Zoroğlu caused us our first social trauma. He was a child psychiatrist who had served as the Head of the Department of Internal Medical Sciences at Istanbul Faculty of Medicine. According to information obtained later, he had been dismissed from the university on FETÖ charges and started working in his private clinic.

It was determined that he diagnosed almost all the children who came for treatment with “multiple personality disorder” and caused them to have hallucinations with the medication he gave. Through suggestions he made to the medicated children, he made them confess that they were “exposed to incest within the family” and forced them to file criminal complaints against their families. The situation came to light with the testimonies of those working in the clinic. A 927-year prison sentence was requested for him.

There were also those who wanted to take advantage of this picture, which shocked society and resembled horror movies at the time. Especially Akit and Yeni Şafak newspapers used this incident to compete in whitewashing the rape of the 6-year-old girl at the Hiranur Foundation under the pretext of marriage. They claimed that the victim, HKG, was also manipulated by the psychiatrist.

The Child Psychiatrist incident was perhaps one of the first publicly known examples of how the decay in society's ethical values began to destroy the principles of medical ethics: beneficence, non-maleficence, respect for autonomy, and justice. It was the emergence of many examples we experienced individually into the public sphere.

I think patients forced into unnecessary surgeries, bills inflated with exaggerated examinations in hospitals, and fraud resorted to for convincing patients are not unfamiliar to us.

I am one of those who have been forced into unnecessary surgery twice.

However, the feeling of trust and surrender to the physician was sometimes strong enough to cloud our perceptions.

Undoubtedly, our country's very valuable and trustworthy “real physicians” played a role in the reasons why we fall into these traps.

For years, we thought like our Leader, who “advised us to entrust ourselves to Turkish physicians.” We entrusted our health and lives to them without doubt. Thank goodness they exist! We owe them a debt of gratitude…

However, we have started to recognize those who are after dirty profits and are devoid of moral and conscientious values in recent years. Still, we never thought they could be “murderers.”

BABY KILLERS

The fact that a murder network that worships money kills babies for money is the end of the line.

The fact that 9 private hospitals ignored this situation is a declaration of the system's bankruptcy.

However, another event as grave as this is that the Ministry of Health did not impose any sanctions on these hospitals for exactly 19 months, citing the confidentiality of the investigation while babies were being killed.

Minister of Health Kemal Memişoğlu spoke on CNN. I was ashamed while he was speaking.

• The first report to CİMER was made on March 27, 2023

• The investigation started on May 21, 2023 (2 months after the report)

• Minister Memişoğlu established the Audit Commission as the Istanbul Provincial Health Director on September 28, 2023 (6 months after the report)

• The operation against the gang was carried out on April 26, 2024 (13 months after the report)

• The license cancellation of the hospitals was on October 20, 2024 (19 months after the report)

• The operation was hidden from the public for approximately 6 months.

It is truly difficult to understand how Minister Memişoğlu, while describing the confidentiality of the investigation process with great relish, did not take into account how many more babies this gang caused the death of for 13 whole months.

How can it be explained that no voice was raised while services were provided in the Neonatal Intensive Care Units of these 9 hospitals for 13 months? If you visit the websites of these hospitals, you will see that they continue to advertise the service they provide with the slogan “your babies are our babies.”

As a result of the cancellation of the licenses of these hospitals, while some have closed, there are still some that are open. This is because the treatments of those among the inpatients who cannot be transferred to other hospitals are continuing. No new patients are being accepted to the hospitals, and their operations continue until patient transfers are completed.

The allegation that the gang rented the “Neonatal Intensive Care” of these hospitals is another grave issue that needs to be answered. How can a hospital rent out its “Neonatal Intensive Care Unit”?

It is, of course, unacceptable for a hospital to be unaware of and irresponsible about the schemes going on in the “Neonatal Intensive Care Unit” under its own responsibility.

The fact that the 9 hospitals mentioned are part of large hospital chains should also be a subject that needs to be evaluated carefully.

There are many questions to be asked. However, it is extremely clear that the Ministry of Health did not perform its audit duty and the reason it intervened in the incident was to reveal the loss of income suffered by the SGK (Social Security Institution).

In short, the Ministry of Health is more sensitive to the SGK's loss of income than to the patients' health…

It is shameful that the Minister of Health emerges from this terrible picture without taking any responsibility, does not even think about resigning, and even tries to derive a success story from the detective game he played for 13 months.

However, this swamp is very deep; there are allegations that similar events have taken place in Sakarya, Kocaeli, Antalya, and Niğde as well. Furthermore, what was done to these babies and for what purposes they were used and killed remains a question mark. Even the names of some state hospitals have started to be mentioned. I would like to say “we shall see.” But will we be able to see? I am doubtful… I am doubtful that it will be tried to be covered up…

WHICH UNIVERSITY'S FACULTY OF MEDICINE HOSPITAL IS PRIVATE AVCILAR HOSPITAL?

Avcılar Hospital, owned by former Minister of Health Mehmet Müezzinoğlu and whose license was canceled due to baby deaths, is a university hospital.

Which University's?

Haliç University's!

The trust gained by being a university hospital is of an indisputable dimension. University hospitals are institutions where Faculty of Medicine students do internships with the title of “intern doctor” in their 6th year, meaning they learn medicine in an experimental field. For this reason, university hospitals must have the necessary equipment and provide training under the guidance of faculty members who have internalized medical ethics.

The founding foundation of Haliç University is LÖSEV. That is, the Our Children with Leukemia Foundation, founded by the late Prof. Dr. Gündüz Gedikoğlu, which receives great support from society.

However, the Foundation was transferred to a trustee in 2016, and with the decision of YÖK (Council of Higher Education), the management of Haliç University was temporarily transferred to Istanbul University, the guarantor university, and the risk of closure was eliminated. The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Haliç University was arrested and served 4 months in prison on the grounds that he transferred university resources to his personal companies (Yeni Yüzyıl Newspaper, etc.) along with some family members.

Mehmet Topsakal was appointed as the Chairman of the new Board of Trustees. Mehmet Topsakal is the operator of the Haliç Congress Center and the contractor of the Atatürk Cultural Center.

How painful it is that Haliç University Faculty of Medicine Avcılar Hospital is now mentioned with baby murders.

How aware were the young doctor candidates working in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of the situation?

Why did I tell these?

• Health and education are the lifeblood of a society.

• Privatizations in health and education in Turkey lead to these sacred institutions being managed with a commercial company mentality and greed for profit prevailing over the service mentality.

• The way to raise educated and healthy generations, which are the guarantee of our future, is possible by providing qualified health and education services under the guarantee of the state.

• The management of private hospitals and universities away from supervision and with a corporate logic, and attempts to gain profit through political favoritism, bring with them irreparable consequences.

• It is clear that the service quality of health institutions and foundation universities, which are increasing rapidly in number and have become exempt from supervision regarding their pricing policies, is also far from supervision.

• Their rapid increase in number is proof that they are seen as a sweet gateway to profit.

• The AKP has not only destroyed the understanding of merit but has also “corporatized” the foundation understanding, which is the legacy of our ancestors. Institutions operating according to the capitalist competition system and aiming only for profit have begun to replace universities and hospitals founded by deep-rooted foundations.

• This social structure, where the passion for money has begun to destroy the idealism of providing service and moral values have decayed, continues to rapidly produce ruthless, merciless, and immoral people.

• Baby killers are just the tip of the iceberg….

Let us not forget; as in the words of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk; “THE CHILDREN OF A NATION ARE THE FUTURE OF THAT NATION.”

Every government reaps what it sows! But unfortunately, what is being reaped are our children and babies………..
