A reward or a shackle?

Detention practices applied to Istanbul municipalities continue.

It is clear that the head of government and their team for the coming years are being shaped.

The rotten ones are being weeded out.

It seems the journey of Dervishhood, which begins in the 'chilehane' (seclusion cell) for a long time and with only bread and water, has begun.

There is no one left among us who does not know these processes in politics.

As long as you don't go to the gallows.

As long as you are not hanged.

There is no turning back from that.

Otherwise, the goal is reached somehow.

Look at Demirel, Ecevit, Erbakan, and a few others.

Of course, not all politicians went to prison, but all of those whose names are still remembered were hosted in the seclusion cell for a while.

Their resistance levels rose.

They passed the tests successfully and are still remembered with respect and love.

However, a piece of news recently crossed my path.

The owners of a very large construction firm have also been put inside, apart from the politicians.

I don't really know what their sins are, but it must be about tender business.

The founder of this firm is our esteemed engineer-contractor elder, Ersin Arıoğlu.

He is one of our most important engineer-contractors.

If the Republic of Turkey's international contracting services have exceeded 500 billion dollars, Ersin Arıoğlu is one of the top five names in this adventure.

The high-speed train projects they carried out, especially in the Arab geography and African deserts, are an important indicator of our country's engineering capability.

After Ersin Arıoğlu passed away, his children took over the authority.

Now they have been arrested too.

I don't know the children very well.

Their father, Mr. Ersin, was a very humble engineer-contractor elder of ours.

We could reach him instantly when we called his mobile.

Sometimes he would call himself and ask for the names of the talented young engineers.

He valued our references very much.

He had a special interest in the university, science, and academia, and gave all the support he could to university professors.

As far as we know from afar—though we were not fortunate enough to communicate with his children as we did with their father—the children of our engineer-contractor elder, whose hand should be kissed, are also extremely moral, honest, and talented engineers.

They didn't say 'the apple doesn't fall far from the tree' for nothing.

These children, who recently received an achievement award from the President at an organization of the Turkish Contractors Association, have been arrested.

It is news that saddens even their competitors.

The arrest of an entrepreneur poisons the entire system.

It also intimidates others and causes barrenness.

Standing up for these children, who are members of the Turkish Contractors Association, is certainly beyond me.

It is not for an ordinary academic like me either.

However, when not even a low-level sound came from the Turkish Contractors Association, of which they are members, I took it upon myself to act.

I hope they are released soon so that Turkish contracting can continue its journey toward achieving even greater successes.
