Advice for those planning an Iran-backed academic career

Iran is a subject I don't understand much, or rather, not at all.

However, it would be remiss not to say a few words about such a hot topic.

I actually wrote an article about the comparison between Turkey and Iran made by a relatively reformist former Iranian president.

The former reformist president had stated that he envied the economic and cultural point reached by Turkey, a country that does not have a single drop of oil.

In terms of academia, Turkey is also miles ahead of Iran, if we look at the real figures.

Iranian academics who stand out in rankings through publications in journals of Iranian origin—whose nature is not very clear—and the Turks who follow them out of a concern for publishing, raise suspicions.

The system in which the Ayatollah—a title of Arabic origin meaning something like “sign of God” or “seer of God”—lived, which was demolished overnight, has become crystal clear.

I don't have data, but I am sure from the images scattered about that the Iranian academy is in a similar situation.

Proceeding in a way that does not comply with ethical rules just to pursue an academic career, in accordance with the principle of plastic movement, will throw them further back than where they started.

Consider yourself warned.
