I went to Cuba years ago.
On a freebie, of course.
It wasn't a dealer meeting, though.
It was an academic conference.
Otherwise, I never had enough money to go to Cuba or any other country for a vacation.
And it doesn't look like I will from now on, either.
Anyway, that's not our topic.
Our topic is how we are becoming more like Cuba with each passing day.
Municipalities are rapidly opening public restaurants.
Then came the public butcher shops.
The process, which initially started with public bread and public milk, has reached the point of establishing public markets due to the extreme impoverishment of the public.
Those who mocked Sümerbank, which was established with scarce public resources years ago despite it being wartime, have become a laughingstock by reaching the point of establishing "Sümer-grocery stores."
Our only difference from Cuba is that there are no issues with hygiene yet.
However, as poverty deepens and the public sector falls into even greater difficulty, we too will have public markets or public restaurants that are impossible to enter due to filth.
Cuba, where the sun shines constantly at the top, the rustling sounds of forests are heard, and oil gushes beneath the beaches, has committed such a sin that its people are struggling with hunger.
They meet even their basic needs from public markets or public butcher shops.
There is more, but I cannot write it here.
Let me just write this much.
Let me close the subject by saying it has become a country where card-carrying Europeans go to amuse themselves.
Turkey, too, is able to meet its basic needs through public means due to the economic crisis of recent years.
It is rapidly moving toward becoming Cuba.
