Recently, at an introductory meeting I attended at a foundation university, I encountered the interesting name of a professor in his seventies who had retired from the state sector.

Tuanay.

This name, given 70 years ago, clearly shed light on our professor's destiny, leading him to become an academic at our oldest university.

It is easy to understand from his surname that he comes from a deep-rooted family.

We had a famous professor named Tokyay, whose roots traced back to the Sultan's adjutant (kolağası).

Just like our professor Erbatur, who was a cousin of Atatürk.

Families are very sensitive when naming their children.

They want to turn an ordinary surname into an advantage with a charismatic first name.

The name and surname in this title are, mashallah, quite charismatic and intriguing.

On the other hand, especially in recent years, traditional ancestral names are given as first names, while pure Turkish names are given as the primary names to children.

When you look at the name in the title, you get an idea similar to this.

You say, "They are either an academic, a doctor, or a musician."

At the very least, the idea that they are from an urban family awakens in one's mind.

But that is not the case.

When you look at the news, you see a graceful young girl throwing her Kalashnikov into a pot containing a few pieces of broken wooden pallet scraps.

Sitting at the table with a terrorist organization that takes a young girl with this name to the mountains and expecting results is something my mind cannot comprehend.
