August has ended. The beautiful summer month passed in the blink of an eye. However, I postponed my vacation until after the finals due to summer school. Thanks to a summer house I rented in a very beautiful neighborhood in Bodrum, I managed to get my vacation for free. I am fed up with hotel prices and the banality of hotel vacations. High and meaningless fees, similar venues, typical meals, various cheeses that all taste the same, drinks that are in their original bottles but whose origins are unknown, crowds attacking here and there like a swarm of locusts, overflowing messy plates, crazed vacationers slipping and breaking their arms and legs on greasy pasta dropped on the floor, fake shows, terrible concerts, unqualified labor, and so much more.
That is why renting a summer house is more fun. Another practice that adds to our fun is that municipalities have put an end to the ridiculous beach tender charade. The immoral gangs that seize public land auctioned off to whoever pays the highest tender price, and the terror they inflict to recoup the kickbacks they paid.
The so-called populist municipalities that claim to be leftist, which remain indifferent to this situation, ignore it, and say, "What can we do, they won the tender."
The naive mayors who think we don't know who took the kickback from the tender.
Beach terror
Sunbed terror
Umbrella terror
Toast terror
Water terror
Parking terror
This year, all these terrors have ended.
Beaches have been nationalized.
Municipalities have truly become "populist municipalities."
In all of them, the authentic, lovely people of the region are working.
Let me open a parenthesis: CHP municipalities have finally understood what social democracy is. They have stayed away from the stupidity of "tender-highest profit-highest price-let those with money come, and the rest go to the village."
And let me close the parenthesis.
Communist practices have been put into effect.
Drinks that children crave are at market prices.
Hamburgers and fries are almost free.
There is no parking fee.
There are no prison-escapee bodyguards with threatening glares.
Water, a basic human right, is sold for our worthless small change.
And the best part is bumping into celebrities while swimming in the same municipal beach.
Beach clubs and restaurants are too expensive for them, too.
A "one state, one flag, one nation, one salary" practice has been implemented, so the Etiler high society and the artist crowd, who previously didn't want to breathe the same air as commoners like us, are now smiling at us, greeting us, and tolerating us on the same beach.
They can no longer go to the restaurants we cannot afford.
They can no longer go to the beach clubs whose doors they wouldn't even let us peek through.
They, too, are at the market, picking out unbruised tomatoes and fresh produce, sharing opinions on how the watermelon isn't good by its stem, and carrying it to their rented summer house.
So, in essence
Communism, which tried to force its way in through the chimney during the Cold War despite all doors being kept tightly shut
Communism, which made the country build stone walls inside itself
Communism, for which thousands of people died and were tortured
Communism, which made brother fight brother
Communism, which led people to report those they disagreed with as leftists or rightists
Communism, which ruined the homes of thousands of families
Communism, which made thousands of young people "undesirable"
Communism, which caused thousands to become stateless
Communism, which sent its sane, educated, rights-conscious people to the guillotine
You have arrived, welcome; you have arrived quietly in my country, where you were kicked out the door and couldn't enter through the chimney, welcome.
