Turks are among the nations in the world that struggle the most with the issue of foreign languages.
Likewise, the Japanese and the Greeks are among the nations experiencing similar difficulties.
Our academics, who have attended language courses for years, have never been able to achieve a sufficient grade, despite all the effort and labor.
Even when they resorted to various tricks, it did not work.
Then, FETÖ came to their rescue, and by seizing control of the examination centers, they handled the score issue.
Since English education is a subject the world is focused on, there has been quite a bit of pressure on academics in this regard for the last thirty years.
As interest in American and British universities reached extreme levels, the increasingly expensive schools put pressure on white-collar families, especially in the Arab and African geographies.
They directed their children to Turkey, and the foundation universities opened in our country in recent years have eliminated this difficulty with their pricing.
Foundation universities opened English-language departments, and foreign students flocked to these departments.
Germany and other European universities also became willing to open English-language programs.
Even Lithuania became a Baltic country that followed this path.
Greece as well.
State universities in Turkey have not been very interested in this matter.
Foreign students heading to schools in England, Singapore, and America are experiencing difficulties in learning the language.
Reaching sufficient language proficiency for university education is not easy.
For countries like Turkey, Lithuania, and Greece that want to get a share of international higher education, language is not a problem.
In fact, it would not be very accurate to say that there is a systematic English education.
They are trying to manage their affairs with a new English-like language or a dialectical communication tool.
Thank God, devices that perform instant translation have entered our lives, and the English language has escaped structural degradation.
Now, the English language problem in universities is over.
Every professor will teach the course in their native language, and every student will listen in their own native language.
I do not know if these translation programs will be used for assignments and exams, but the most important problem—conveying what is in one's mind to the other party in the most accurate way—has ceased to be a problem.
In fact, since the vocabulary of the professors is limited, they use the same words even if the courses they teach are different.
Since artificial intelligence does the assignments, it does not seem like there will be much of a problem there either.
There is no longer any need for TOEFL or YÖKDİL exams.
Thus, education in the native language has been resolved.
