Ferdi Zeyrek: The Handsome Mayor

The Mayor of Manisa has died.

May God have mercy on his soul.

I did not know him personally.

I had started seeing him on television in recent days.

News reports were circulating on television that the municipal budget had a surplus.

In other words, he looked after the citizens' money.

In recent times, this is not a very common virtue.

The new mayors, some of whom are in prison, do not seem to have much in the way of assets.

One of those who was thrown in jail did not even have a house.

It seems he did not value worldly possessions.

These reports are, of course, gratifying.

The state of countries not governed by those who are both satisfied and content is clear.

Misery is knee-deep.

Millions are struggling alongside a rampant, wealthy minority.

Mind you, the greatest revolutionary, Prophet Muhammad, was also very sensitive about this issue, but his followers do not seem to have grasped the subject very well.

Those interested can look at the publications of the Directorate of Religious Affairs.

There are plenty of sources on this topic.

Concepts such as "knowing what is forbidden and what is permissible" or "there is no foundation for what is forbidden" clearly demonstrate the importance our society places on morality.

To those who understand, of course.

However, the reason Mayor Ferdi Zeyrek remains in my memory is not only his honesty, but also that he was as handsome as a Yeşilçam actor.

While he was progressing along the lines of being a very fine role model, he departed from this world early as a result of an electric shock.

We have lost a mayor who was both handsome, tall and well-built, educated, financially savvy, and moral.

I asked Google.

I could not see any news about a mayor who died from an electric shock.

He was the first, and it happened to be our turn.

What a fate!!

There is no choice but to say may God have mercy on his soul and may he rest in heaven.
