FETÖ's July 15: A communal obligation

A 'fard al-kifaya' (communal obligation) refers to social duties that, when fulfilled by a group of Muslims, absolve the rest of the community of responsibility.

Unfortunately, our public is treating the issue of FETÖ as if it were a fard al-kifaya in Islam.

Instead of taking a stand, they pass the buck to others and continue to lend an ear to fallacies regarding July 15.

They claim it was a 'controlled coup' or that it 'could have been prevented.'

Dear readers, this coup was neither controlled nor could it have been prevented.

It was nearly impossible to stop the most organized terrorist and intelligence organization of the last millennium in world history.

So much so that the names of the organization members working for foreign powers were Muslim-sounding.

For them, there is no such thing as a 'coup hour.'

If there were, they would not have gone to seize MİT Undersecretary Hakan Fidan in broad daylight in 2012.

Therefore, this coup was very different from traditional Cold War coups.

This was not a coup against politicians, but one carried out by the Air Force solely against President Erdoğan; after all, why would they stage a coup against the others, most of whom were under the influence of the 'ocean' (a reference to Fethullah Gülen)?

Our people forget too quickly.

Beyond what they hear, the mental processor that should process even what they see with their own eyes is constantly throwing errors.

They cannot even grasp how FETÖ took a clear side with Israel during the 'Mavi Marmara' incident, openly praising the Crusader mentality in their videos while denigrating Muslims.

President Erdoğan, through his personal efforts—despite the fact that it is obvious how many of his close circle were FETÖ sympathizers—worked day and night to convince a portion of the Turkish public that FETÖ is an intelligence and armed terrorist organization.

However, this conviction is still being abstracted by some circles.

Especially the segment described as pious, who have lost their children to this terrorist organization, remains in a state of 'passive persuasion' regarding FETÖ.

This segment continues to maintain a distant and passive stance against the bullet fired by Petty Officer Ömer Halisdemir that stopped the coup.

As long as allegiance continues to this intellect—which puts the Prophet of Islam on a truck in their TV series and tries to form partnerships with Catholics, with whom there have been issues for fifteen hundred years—the Turkish nation will continue to struggle with new 'FETÖs' and old 'Kabakçı Mustafas'.
